How do you organize your nursing school work?

Hello Everyone,

I am wondering how you are organizing everything for nursing school? I did not care as much about my organization for school work in my first undergraduate degree. I used these summer sessions to kind of play around with stuff. I think I have found a good method. I even got a filing cart (2 file one from Staples) to put all papers/tests, school papers, and personal papers. I use the expanding filing system for each science class and soon to be nursing classes. Of all the stuff what do you keep? My expandable file is pretty thick from A&P1. I have become addicted to the Avery tabs for individual dividing in sections. What do you name the main dividers?

Thank you in advance

I keep everything in binders and I organize is by class on my bookshelf. I have no idea if I will use it again, but it's there if I need to. After I pass NCLEX, i will prob toss it all and sell my nursing books(except for my maternal/child ones which is what Im interested in).

Well...

When I first started I have everything organized. I have a binder which has an expandable file folder built in. I had a different notebook for lecture and for clinical notes. I had my pens and highlighters divided by color and type.

About midway though the semester I started just shoving everything I could into the file folder and taking notes on what ever was available to take notes on.

I've used the binder method with all of the powerpoints the classes use now. I used to use a subject notebook, but with so many teachers using powerpoints, its easier just to print them up, 3hole punch them, and take notes directly on them so everything is together. I keep loose leaf paper in the binder if needed. I use a folder (with holes to place within the binder) for any handouts/syallbus/etc. I start nursing school this fall and I'll be using my binder system again. One binder for lecture (I finished all my corequisites so I only have one nursing core class), and one for lab/clinical. I made sure to get extra folders for anything I need to fill out for clinical (one to store copies, one for handing in to the professor, and one for graded ones I got back). And the most important part of staying organized: I use a planner for everything in my life including work, school, and personal activities. I also use a calendar system with one page per month with big assignments and exams so that I can see the semester all at once (this helps me plan ahead when I can see what's due next, even if it's a couple weeks away). Good luck!
