How are you spending the summer?

I am going to be a fifth year senior next year (I transfered from a JC as a JR to a BSN program that is three years) and I know that this is my last summer to make plans however I wish, and probably my last summer that I will get preferred vacation time for awhile (seniority right?)... So this is how my summer goes:

The Saturday after finals I fly to L.A. and spend a week with my sister-in-law, visit old high school friends, become a tourist etc.

The Monday after I come back I start a summer class for my last GE. It goes for one month.

The following week I start a one month preceptorship with an OB nurse in a local hospital.

I have about 11 days which I have no commitment to, then I fly to NY for 8 days, then from there I fly to MN for 7 days to visit family. After that I fly home.

I have one week before I start my last year of nursing school ....so yeah, I have a full schedule for summer.(and somewhere in there I go to sacrament a few times on weekends)...which starts officially on may 15th at 1500...

How is everyone else spending their summer?

I'm babysitting 2 extra kids plus working on testouts for my last few pre-reqs. My summers are so history for the next few years. This year is testouts, next year study for NCLEX, the following year study for GRE.

I'll be working FT over the summer as a nursing assistant at a hospital, to stockpile some $$ for the fall when my hours go back down. I will run a couple of music-oriented "camps" at my church, and hopefully a vacation with the family SOMEWHERE. There's also a family reunion in August. But as a student, funds are not like I'll hope they'll be once I get out of school, so hopefully we'll manage it all!

I will be in my 2nd semester of NS, but I am actually looking forward to it. Then I get a 5-week break afterwards - yay!

Studying for the Excelsior statistics test mostly. Oh yeah, and taking care of my children. ;)

I have the NCLEX scheduled for June 3rd and start working June 9th. Along with orientating, I'm probably going to moving this summer too...busy!!

After graduation May 9th, I will stay my job on May 19th and then shortly after take my NCLEX review and my exam. No rest for me this year either!! :) and :(, I can't decide, haha!

i am taking classes all through summer. i will be done with school in almost exactly 6 months from today. i might be super pasty, but it will be worth it.

Well, since my summer consists of about 2.5 weeks before the next semester starts, I'll probably fish, sleep, and be very unproductive. But it will only last a little while and then back to the grind!:D

I don't really have a summer break...my finals start this week and my last final is on Wednesday, May 7th. I have orientation for my Accelerated BSN program the following day (the 8th) and then the following Monday (May 12th) I start nursing school. We get about two weeks off in August before the fall semester starts on August 18th. I'm excited about it! :) Enjoy your summers, everyone--no matter what it is you'll be doing!!

I have 2 classes to take this summer, but am looking forward to not having any nursing-related classes.....and looking forward to the break away from it all. I don't know about the rest of you, but the past month has been a real struggle emotionally/mentally for me. Some days I have gotten really close to quitting, but then I snap back to reality and make myself push through....knowing that it will all be over soon. I am holding a solid B average at this point and don't want to give up, so maybe a little R & R will help me get my head back in the game.

I'm one tired and worn out nursing student (and I know everyone else is right there with me)!! Hugs to all.
