My first day of nursing school is July 8th. The calendar is in terms so I have two classes until the fall. The two classes that I have are A&P 1 and college algebra. From your experience did they assign homework on the first day of class? How was your first day of class? Etc.. Thank u!

A lot of subjects will have assigned reading that you have to do before the first class.Yep homework every day is the norm.

In my math and my A & P 2 homework was basically not turned in, just something you had better do if you want to pass the tests! But A & P 1 we used that McGraw Hill online tutorial and those assignments were extremely time consuming and we were factored into our grade. But usually the first day of class all my professors ever do is go over the syllabus and begin a lecture.

I never had A And P homework, matg homework was weekly, I believe it started the first week of class.

You never had assigned reading, lab reports, or anything like that?

I wouldn't expect "homework" like in grade school - the "read this section and answer the review questions at the end of the chapter and turn them in tomorrow" or "fill out this worksheet" type. It's more likely to be reading assignments done on the honor system, with intelligent participation in class discussion as a part of the final grade, and projects/papers that you're expected to work on over a longer period of time. But that's still homework.

Nope, you're grade was based off of test only. Sure there was chapters that went along with the readings, but they were optional at best.

We had reading assigned prior to the first day (probably 10 chapters!) and there was lecture on those chapters on the first day. No tests or quizzes on my first day though. That's torture!

You're in college now. There will be lots of reading, tests, homework etc. To quote that old phrase one more time, "Pull on your big girl panties and deal with it!"

It's all worth it in the end.

Most university classes that I've ever had have required reading and/or homework beginning the first day.

Haha! Get used to it. I've had math tests on the first day of clinical and I completed 8 different rotations when I was in nursing school. U should be studying at least ready b4 classes start anyways if you can. Trust me... Good luck ?

The fun in nursing school starts on day 1. Expect to hit the ground running with assignments even on the first day of a class.

You are so right! And with all the reading, it should really start before classes start:)

If my post above sounds harsh, it's probably because I've listened to my husband's students complain about the huge pile (any at all) of homework they have.

How in the XXXX did you plan to learn otherwise?

:dead: At orientation, we were given a sheet of homework assignments (mostly assigned reading) for each class - due the first week. Pharmacology alone is 13 chapters.
