Holding off

Nursing Students General Students

Today I made the decision to hold off from beginning the nursing program for fall. I asked the school to add me in the list for the spring start. They couldn't guarantee me getting in but did say that with all my support classes already taken, I will be given priority consideration.

I am in the process of trying to get custody of my niece and some other things going on and did not want to try to manage everything all at once. Also, by waiting my daycare costs will go down as it would have cost me $40.00 per day this semster but by waiting my son will be able to go to the campus daycare for $2.00 per hour.

So I decided to take A&PII, math and a sociology class. The only class I will need for the nursing program will be microbiology and I don't get in for spring, I will take that and be ready again for next fall.

I will visit here often because I want to hear how all the new nursing students are doing.

Take care and good luck to everyone.

I'm sure it was a tough decision to make, but it sounds like it was the right one. Good luck with everything.

You do have a lot on your plate; I would have made the same decision if it had been me. Best of luck to you.

you made a smart decision. part of being a good nurse means taking care of yourself, too. good luck!!

I know that the decision was hard for you to make but it was the smart one. I left nursing school back in 1999 and am just coming back now for similar reasons but timing is everything!!! Remember you will succeed when it's your time

Good Luck in the future!!!

Better to get those classes out of the way before starting the nursing classes anyways. Hope things work out with getting custody of your niece.

Thanks everyone. I know this is the right decision and it also opened an opportunity for someone else to begin the program.

If I don't get in for spring, I will take more classes towards the BSN.

I will visit here often (which for me is daily), I love reading the stories and will be looking forward to hearing how everyone is doing in the upcoming semester.

Best of luck to you with school and with your niece. I think that it is awesome that you can make such a selfless decision. God bless you!!!
