HELP with Chemistry!

  1. Does anyone know the answer to this question?
We were doing an experiment with color indicators in lab last week. If table salt turns colorless with phenolphthalein, yellow-orange with cresol red and yellow with methyl red....is the solution acidic, basic, or neutral? I am confused b/c each indicator says something different about table salt. With one, it says it is acidic....with another, it says it is basic and with another, it says table salt is neutral......so what is table salt? Acidic, basic, or neutral? To me, all the indicators should agree.....I hope I made myself clear???
    Thanks!

I think I read somewhere that you can either test the anion or the cation but not both at the same time, which may explain the mixed test results.

    For info about NaCl:
