HELP W/ Nursing Study Books

I am in nursing school-2nd semester. I am looking for a good study book. NCLEX related, but also to help me study for tests. I need to get comfortable w/ the questioning style & applying critical thinking. ANY SUGGESTIONS??? Thank You!!!

Ditto what Daytonite said. I'm second semester also. I really like the Saunders book. It's divided into sections and I use it as an additional study aid for exams. For example, we just finished the OB rotation and took our final for it last week. I went through my notes to study, but I also went through those sections in the Saunders book. Before you get to the questions in each section, it has a short review type section.

I was wondering if the older edition of Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination by Linda Anne Silvestri would suffice because they're roughly $20-30 at amazon. The newer edition runs for $60+. Is there enough of a difference to shell out the extra money?

Hi I will suggest you Prentice Hall Review for NCLEX. The CD has great questions. I personally used it and got so much better on my testing skills and knowledge base. The questions are hard, and you would have to spend time with it. But when you will master it, you will do great on all other exams.
I am actually graduating this MAY and have a lot of books. In case you are interested, email me your questions....I am willing to share my experience with you, Val

I have to agree with the above posts....saunder's should be a requirement for every nursing program!

I also buy the prentice hall reviews and rationale books for each of my classes, it gives alot more material than just the saunders book and offers hundreds more questions on the CD covering a specific subject!

Also do at least 20 NCLEX style questions each day..it has helped a ton with my testing and has actually decreased the time I spend reading the textbook!

Zees, There is not a big difference between the older and newer copy...I have an older one (2006?) and the only big difference is I think the newer one has color pages..and maybe a few minor changes, but really nursing hasn't changed that much
