I am doing really well in A & P and my strategy is #1 flashcards (memorizing my flashcards has been a huge help on my exams) and #2 I read each chapter 3 times. once out loud and the other two silently. also, if I don't understand something, a lot of times I will go to youtube and look up a video on the subject, for example, I looked up a video on mitosis and meiosis and found a number of videos that explained the process to me in much simpler terms that what was in the book. or you can also google search a topic (i.e. the nervous system for idiots) and find some wonderful websites that are very helpful and easier to understand. I hope this helped. good luck!!!

I've been out of school for over 20 years... the Anatomy class is killing me! but I have been using flashcards, I bought the anatomy coloring book and anatomy for dummies. I also bought a little recorder and I'm recording my lectures. I'm taking all the help I can get.

Our instructor gives us DVD's of the tissues, bones, bone markings models, rat and cat dissections and I watch them over and over (I study on the side) but boy they have saved me. I know most of the stuff well now. I will be onto flashcards and drawings next to help learn the bones besides the DVD.

Good luck hope this helps!

I just started on my pre-reqs, after being in a totally different career. I have Fibromyalgia, so my A&P 1 was horribly hard, because it's difficult for me to memorize stuff. The only reason I got an A (89.6 !!!) is because I had over a 100 average in the lecture portion. My highest lab grade was an 83, and went downhill from there. Finally, right before the last lab exam, I bought a dvd that the biology department made that uses all the models that we get tested on. I did somewhat better on that test, so at the beginning of this semester, I bought the A&P 2 dvd before I even bought my textbooks.

It is HUGE to be able to SEE the models over, and over, and over, and over again. When I think I'm ready, I turn the volume all the way down, then write out the names as the instructor points to a structure. Then I turn up the volume and check it. I do it over, and over, and over, and over, until I get them all right.

Also, our department has a practice test the Friday before the week of an exam. They have anywhere from 60-100 structures labeled; there are usually 60 questions on a test. See if your department offers it, and if they do, DON'T miss one. It has made such a tremendous difference for me. My first lab exam, I got a 93. My second one, I got a 97. I would have gotten a 99, but I changed one of my answers (turns out I had the right answer the first time :-P ).

It all comes down to time commitment.

Best of luck!
