Half-way through first semester...

Nursing Students General Students

Second exam is in the record books, 5 clinical rotations with satisfactory results (and some genuine enjoyment from them), and six successful skills check offs in our SIM lab- and I'm still here....and almost flourishing....almost.

1) Regardless of my advanced preparation or previous collegiate education, I never expected the program to be so intense, intimidating and flat-out confounding-

2) I'm still a young adult, but a good deal into that group and I have never had weeks go by so fast-

3) Still have a long and difficult road ahead, but have begun to recognize patterns within myself that help and hinder my process-

4) Learned to literally compartmentalize one day-at-a-time to stay focused and flexible (I know how odd that sounds)-

5) We've lost 25 percent of our initial 150... Did I mention that I'm still here?

Anyway, I know it's really only significant in relation to my process and will be looked back on one day as something different....but for right now, I'm pleased with myself!

You should be VERY pleased with yourself! Nursing school is very difficult! I know there will be others who will say it's a piece of cake, but in the long run, it is difficult.

Like you said, you have a long road ahead of yourself, but you can definitely make it. You'll definitely lose some more classmates along the way (hopefully not), but as long as you prioritize and keep yourself focused, and wanting it, you will begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Congratulations on making it this far! You should be proud! :)

Congrats. I am a new student, and we just found out the 2nd Pharm exam wiped out a few of our class. I am happy with passing at this point. I figured out every early, take it day by day. That is the only way to make it through. Kudos!!!
