:balloons:CONGRATS SENIORS!!!!:balloons:

What are your plans for the first job? And what would you like to advance to eventually??

I plan to start off on a telemetry floor..get the basics down... then move on to NICU someday...

Im starting in the NICU.....my start date is in Jan as a New Grad until I pass boards.

Eventually Id like to work in a Peds office so my hours are more aligned with my kids school schedules

Specializes in SICU, MICU, CICU, NeuroICU.

I will work where there's a day position (I'm not a night person). I eventually want to obtain my masters (preferably CRNA), but that's a long ways a way. I just want to concentrate on graduating.

Specializes in ICU.

Nurse Tech in ICU from Jan until passing boards then on to a Trauma level 1 hospital (fingers crossed for harborview in seattle) one year there then 1 year traveling, after 2 years w/ICU go for CRNA school. That covers the next 5 years..................lol

Specializes in LDRP.

:balloons:congrats seniors!!!!:balloons:

i actually have my job in labor and delivery all lined up and i cant wait! this is why i went to school...

:balloons:congrats to all who are graduating!:balloons:

I'm very interested in NICU now, it's sort of the last thing I would have expected I would like. I'm not sure it will be possible for me to be hired as a new grad into the NICU where I'm from but I might try. Telemetry is something that interests me, as well.

I'm having a mini panic attack just thinking about how soon graduation is.lol 6 months away...that's nothing.

yeah right along i had never thought i would be interested in NICU either..it was just recently that i became VERY interested in it.. the closest NICU around me is about an hr away from home...

how scary is the fact graduation is RIGHT around the corner..lol i assume i'll try telemetry first..better my skills then if im still interested in NICU in maybe 2 years, i'll apply for a job..

You may want to talk to the nursing manager at the NICU at the hospital you want to work at before you go to Tele. WHere I work the NICU manager prefers to hire new grads "green" as in not having worked anywhere else in the Med/Surg area. Her reason being that skills on adults don't coorelate directly to neonates and people have to "unlearn" most of what they are taught to settle into NICU. Just a thought! Good Luck!

Specializes in Neuro.

I was accepted today for an RN internship at one of the local hospitals, although I haven't quite decided which track of the internship I want to do. I would be happy with a position on the advanced care neuro unit, or in the ER, or on a telemetry unit... the list goes on.

Fortunately I still have a little while before I pick my specific track.

I may start on med-surg and end up in...who knows. :lol2:

I already have my job too, woohoo. I will start in Feb. 2008 in the ED/Level II Trauma. This is where I wanted to work, so I was very glad the hospital made me an offer. We're also relocating for this job. We knew we wanted to move, so I applied out of state.

CONGRATS SENIORS!!!! Almost over, I can't wait. I'm very excited, but very nervous at the same time. Until I actually pass, I won't feel relieved, LOL.

i will be relocating and then hopefully start working in peds heme/onc. i would then like to eventually travel for a few years and go back to school for my master's. i graduate june 08.
