Grading Systems

  1. What is your grading system like. Ours is...

    >= 91.5 % = A
    83.5 - 91.49 = B
    75 - 83.49 = C
74.9 or less = F and dismissal from the entire program

I don't mind these because I think nurses should strive to do better, but I was just curious about other programs.

    Cheers,

    Marc

    97-100 A+
    94-97 A
    90-93 A-
    87-89 B+
    84-87 B
    80-83 B-
    77-80 C+
    74-77 C
    <74 Failure

We actually get different points for our GPA if we get a plus or minus. For example, if you get an A- you get 3.7 GPA points not four.

    88-93- B

Our LPN program sounds similar to many of yours.

    100-95%-- A
    95-92%-- A-

    Etc. but under 79% fails.

One instructor had a good point with the 79% though. If you're at 79%, you're not understanding 1/5 concepts that they're trying to teach you. Seemed scary to me.:imbar

I don't agree with that. Many people graduate with grades in their 70s and make great nurses. I maintain that grades say LITTLE about knowledge acquisition. I plan to write a thesis on that someday LOL.

glad i'm not at that school .

    our university grading system:
    • 98-100 = a+ (4.0)
    • 93-97 = a (4.0)
    • 90-92 = a- (3.7)
    • 87-89 = b+ (3.3)
    • 83-86 = b (3.0)
    • 80-82 = b- (2.7)
    • 77-79 = c+ (2.3)
    • 73-76 = c (2.0)
    • 70-72 = c- (1.7)
anything below is failure & cause for dismissal.
