Unofficially, anyway! I answered the phone here at work & it was a gal from the hospital's HR. She was verifying my employment, but since my boss wasn't in at the moment, I took the message. She recognized my voice & told me unofficially that I got the position. The person who makes the offer of employment will be in tomorrow, so I'll get "the call" then. But, she said that she's already made an appointment to get my physical there at the hosptial on Monday morning at 6:30am. After that, I'll fill out the forms in HR, get my security badge & then I'll be off to orientation. For the first 1 1/2 days, it'll be at the hospital, then I'll be in dialysis orientation for 8 weeks or so. I'm looking forward to it! :)

Yes, I got to see the unit. It's nice sized, but it's broken up into 3 sections, so you only work one section during your shift. From what the manager said, 4 people work each section & it looked like there were 7 or 8 chairs per section, so it's not too bad. I got to watch a nurse start a pt on the machine & it was cool. She let me feel the fistula (it's huge!) and watch her put the needles in & hook him up to the machine. It was really interesting. And the machines are great. They've got touch screens & all the info is right there about the amount of bicarb, their vitals, etc.
Only problem is that I will now have to drop my classes for spring quarter. Not too big of a problem since we didn't start yet...this week's the last week of winter quarter. I couldn't pick up any other classes, so I'll take the quarter off & just resume summer quarter. No big deal, I'm still just taking non-nursing classes while I'm on the waiting list. Only have 3 more non-nursing classes to take, so I'll have time. This way I can devote my whole brain to learning dialysis. :)
Now I just have to find a place to get my CPR certification ASAP. Ugh.
