Getting into an absn with a ~2.75 gpa?

I'm about to graduate with a bachelors degree in biology and minor in psychology from Mizzou. Unfortunately my gpa is pretty low ~2.75 as I was taking a lot of tough pre-med classes. I transferred into mizzou after 1 year with a 3.9 for 30 credits, but they do not factor that into my gpa. For extracurricular I have done a year of psychology research, I went on a medical brigade to Honduras with Global brigades, and volunteered for a university run health clinic.

I want to get into an accelerated bsn program as quickly as I can. What school do I stand a chance getting into?

Hello kvb7,

The first step I always recommend to people is to ensure the institution is accredited appropriately. Search for all programs in your State on this website... American Association of Colleges of Nursing | Find Accredited Programs

Each school has their unique standards, so you will have to do some research with regard to required minimum GPAs. If you do not find any that goes below 3.00 GPA, select 2 or 3 institutions... contact their Admission Adviser to determine if extracurricular activities would help your profile and chances of getting into the program. Private institutions will be more lenient than public ones. But it comes at a price $$$.

Hope this helps you get started. :headphone:

I just graduated from the CSUSM ABSN. This is in California though. I had a really terrible GPA in undergrad with my first degree but the good thing about this program is that they only look at your pre-reqs and last 60 unit gpa. They are most definitely accredited- it is a state school.

It is a great program (24 months) and they have rolling admissions.

They also have one of the highest pass rate in California for the NCLEX (97%). I didn't study too hard for my NCLEX and ended up passing the NCLEX with 76 questions.

Good luck.
