OK, here is my situation... I am taking my pre reqs right now. I couldn't get into A & P or Micro this fall because they were full. Those 2 classes fill up usually the first day of registration. So, I will have to take them in the spring. I so far have gotten As in everything I have taken, and my fall classes are going great. The only class I think I may not get an A in is Speech, and that is due to having to miss a week in November for a prior committment. Anyway, I had a 153 on my NLN and was feeling pretty confident. Today I stopped in the nursing office to make sure that my file was complete. I found out that they are going to look at the applications on April 1. First, they will look at the ones who have COMPLETED their pre-reqs....then those of us who are finishing pre reqs during the spring semester will be considered if there are any spots open. In the beginning, I was told that as long as I had pre reqs done this year, I would be ok. Now, it looks like I may not get in until Fall '05. This school is 30 minutes away and offers LPN to ADN...the next closest it over 2 hours and only offers BSN. I have a husband and 3 kids, so a 2 hour commute would be a real problem. But, if it is going to take 4 years to become a nurse, I might as well get a BSN rather than spend 4 years getting an ADN.
I am so frustrated!!! Somebody asked my today if there is anything else I would like to do, and the answer is a big NO. All I have ever wanted to do is become a nurse.

Hoppermom I can understand your frustration, that's how I was feeling. Why bother taking 3 to 4 years to get my ADN, I might as well go for 4 years and get a BSN. I feel it would be better if waiting lists were based on g.p.a instead of a first come first serve basis.

Well, the only GOOD thing about it taking so long (I'm in the same boat) is that it's possible to just go part-time & thus saving some money and - hopefully - getting excellent grades. At least that's the way I look at it.
I feel your pain though. I may not be able to start the nursing classes for another 6 quarters.
Thanks...I feel a little better about the whole situation. If I don't get in for next fall, I am going to seriously consider going somewhere else, though. For now, I am just working hard and praying that I get in.
