First Time Poster...Big Decision... Help!

  1. Hi this is my first time posting here and I have a bit of a predicament....
To sum it up: at my community college you must apply for the nursing program the year before. I made the mistake of applying for the LPN program instead of the RN (the first year is identical, except for LPN there is a summer semester)...well I was put on the waiting list for the program, later to be told if I would of applied for RN I would of gotten in because more people apply for the LPN because gpa and other factors are lower and since I met the gpa for RN my chances would of been better to get in since they choose the RN's first...of course I was upset but came to terms with not getting in and decided to use the extra year to take the rest of my BSN prereqs...

So last week my mom (who is also an RN) was chatting with one of her friends who works at the college as a nursing lab instructor, she informed my mom that there is a very good chance of my name being picked next since there's been a few drops already and it looked like I would get in for the fall semester (we dont' have spring entrances)....so here's my problem:

Because I wasn't planning on entering the program...I still needed to take 3 prereqs and didn't take 2 this summer in summer school....now...my question is, do I attempt the nursing program and at the same time with 3 other classes at night?
The 3 classes are Human Growth & Devel, Intro to Health Science and Human Body Struc and Func/or A&P I...I've already had A&P II so I do have some background...On average I'm a B student.

Help! Any Suggestions? Ideas? (Sorry so Long)

iF YOU REALLY WANT IT AND THINK YOU CAN HANDLE IT THEN BY ALL MEANS GO FOR IT.... IT WILL BE HARD AND JUST KEEP REMINDING YOUR SELF THAT IT IS WORTH IT AND WILL GET YOU CLOSER TO YOUR GOAL.....AND REMEMBER TO NEVER EVER PROCRASTINATE AGAIN LOL

Agree with the above, with the consideration below.

Do you think you will want to get your BSN? Getting those prereqs out of the way will be easier now than after you have your RN and are working.
Keep your options open and flexible. Plan for not being in the RN program and be ready to go if the opportunity presents itself adn you think you're up to it.

    Good Luck

I say go for it! I was in the same predicament, except I need to take even more classes. I made it through and will graduate in about 2 weeks-you can do it!

I went back to get my RN when I was *** years old with three kids under 7 years. I thought for a while that I was nuts for doing it. Now I know I was nuts for not doing it sooner. Go for it!~!!

If you're willing to do the amount of work involved go for it. I went to school full time, worked full time, have 4 kids, and a hubby who still thinks the laundry fairy comes to do the wash on the days the house cleaning fairy doesn't come. You can do anything if you're willing to do the work. Go for it!

I also wasn't expecting to get into the nursing program for the fall, but I received my letter. I am going to take two nursing course, A&P I and Human Growth & Devel. (internet course) I have already started the work for the Human growth and will try to get all the papers written before classes start in 3 weeks. I am going to do my best. I decided to go with it because I didn't want to put it any longer.

I say go for it!!! I'm sure you can do it.
