Financial aid

I am so frustrated at this point. I feel like I have been wasting time on this. I recieved my financial aid, but only paid for half of the program. Now I have to find other money to pay for the other half, which is much more than I can afford. I was turned down for grants, and looked for any scholarships, and nothing. My EFC is too high, because I supposedly made too much money last year. I know I have a bankruptcy on my record, and I don't believe I actually have bad credit at all. I have been good at paying my bills on time. I am also not working, but have been looking. But the only way I could go to school is if I quit my job. I had asked my parents to cosign and they are under bankruptcy for other purposes, but was told they had good credit. I have tried teri loans, sallie mae, and some private bank sources, and still nothing. I have made mistakes in the past, but I have learned from them. I want to actually do something, and it blows up in my face. I also was in school before, but had to drop out because of financial troubles being laid off. I am 27 and do not qualify for a parent loan. Any advice would be helpful. I've just been upset over this, and maybe I'm making more of a big deal than it really is. Thank you.

If you are not in default for any federal monies, you can apply for the BHPR program which is a full scholarship with stipend. Also you have to have a 0 EFC on your FAFSA.

I may be in the same boat paying for school next year. My daughter is also at an expensive school so it is doubled but somehow we managed this year. Thinking about next year is filling me with anxiety!

Good luck- if I find anything else that may help I will let you know.

I'd suggest getting a job asap and going from there. I'm not sure if bankruptcy negatively affects financial aid for schools but its my understanding that if you have one on your record, then in the opinion of people loaning money you don't have good credit.
