Diploma, BSN, 6 hours of post graduate classes

How many years have you been practicing and what are some of the roles you have worked?
32 years
Medicare Director of Nursing; med surg floor nurse; cardiac step-down as
staff and charge nurse; Home Health field nurse, admission nurse, clinical field
staff supervisor; office nurse for infectious disease physician; head nurse of the main medical tent at Willie Nelson's 4th of July picnic in '80.

How is professionalism incorporated in your role as a nurse?
It is important to develop a good reputation and be able to do everything that you
say you can do. Know your nurse practice act and act accordingly.

And what advice do you have for someone in the beginning of their nursing career?
Remain patient focused. Do not become part of the gossip crowd. This is the way
to stay professional: To perform at all times in a manner that meets acceptable
legal and moral duties as a nurse. Remember, someone is always watching. People
are very observant. Try not to embarrass yourself. Sometimes it just happens.
