Feel like crying. Got my TEAS scores...

  1. I got my TEAS scores last week and I was too upset to post. I got a composite score of 76.5. I have no clue what happened. I thought I did really well. I studied my butt off. Well, I scored extremely high in the english and reading sections, I'm in 99 percentile in both of those. Science I did pretty good. It was the math that killed me. I'm so upset. I have all my pre-req's done, got all straight A's in everything. I just never did well on these types of standardized tests, and I think that's what's hurting me now. My school said they don't base everything on the TEAS scores, its the entire file, but, there are only 50 seats to a lot of applicants. I'm so bummed out. I've been working so hard toward this and one stupid test could have blown it for me. I won't know if I was accepted or declined until the beginning of march. I feel so stupid too because I keep reading how people on these posts scored in the 80's and 90's and how easy the test was. I just don't know what in the world happened. That stupid math. That's what killed me. And funny thing is, all the math courses they require you to take at my school before you can even apply, I got A's in. I just don't know what happened. So, so, so sad. I feel like crying.

grgpeech - you sound like me! Are you in Georgia? I also took the TEAS and scored 99%, then just did terrible on the math and ended up getting a composite score of 76%. I also called the school (I'm applying to No. Georgia) and they said they look at the whole package. It is very frustrating, because just like you, I've made A's in all my math classes. My main problem with the math was running out of time. I take my time when doing math problems, so I don't make mistakes, and it cost me on this test - especially since we couldn't use calculators.

Anyway, just wanted you to know you weren't alone in feeling totally frustrated with the TEAS. If you are in Georgia, let me know - I'd love to chat.

Is there any way to retake it? I did not like my score (80%) the first time and studied the math, which I had done bad, for about a month..my score went up to 88.8%
By the way at my university you need at least a 75% or you are encouraged to retake it. For me It is also just a piece of your application, GPA counts just as much and your science prereqs grade count alot too.
I know alot of people have said it was easy but I thought it was not. Some parts were ok but the pressure to having to do well, the time limits, it was very stressful.

I called the University I applied to and they said I did not need to retake it, that it didn't count that much and with my grades and GPA, I would be fine. Hopefully, the aren't just saying that!

My score was high end 70ish too. Can't remember exactly. It was also the math that got me. I was kicking it in the butt all the way until I hit the math portion. I still got in, she told me not to worry that they base decisions on interviews, references, and just by meeting you in general. I do have to take a quickie math course over the summer to "meet the bar". Chin up, there were only 40 seats for my application, just do well on your interview and that should rank. Good luck.
