Failed first test ever!

  1. This is indeed a sad week for me ladies and gentlemen. I am within eleven weeks of graduation and I failed my first exam. I mean REALLY failed it! I was completely stressed out because I was doing so well academically and attendence-wise this semester, and then BAM big fat F. Yes, that is the letter that comes after D. Second lowest grade in the class and I have no idea what the hell happened. I have thrown my pity party, and I am feeling slightly better now that I have just taken another exam which I feel I did fairly well on. I would like to hear if anyone else has failed an exam. I guess I want to feel like I am not alone.:imbar

Hi. Just dropping in to offer my support for your disheartening failing grade.

Don't let this discourage you. You've made it this far!

Can you retake it? Do you think you just had a momentary brain malfunction? How important was this one exam?

    Let us know what happens.

You are definitely not alone. I am in my 2nd semester. I got a B on my first exam and was feeling really great. Then last week I scored an F on my 2nd exam. It is devastating. Blows your confidence for sure. Hang in there. If you have come this far, you know you can overcome it.

Hi you are not alone! I took a micro quizz and got a 67%!! Thought I would die then, later that same week I took the test & made a big fat 94%!! So sometime you may freak out, go blank, be overly stressed or even overstudy & these things hapen. Try to relax & when you do your best that's all you can do. Good Luck I hope you did well on the test you just took.

I can only imagine how you feel. No, it hasn't happened to me but I can see where it can. I'm watching my consistent high B grades turn into high Cs during this third semester. Usually one of the top students in the class, I'm watching others do better. They're all asking what's wrong with me. I have no earthly clue. Just hoping that my grades pick up on my next rotation which is the dreaded med-surg II.

Maybe you over-studied? I think it can happen. The questions on my last test weren't worded as succinctly as what we would see in an NCLEX review book, which was one of my study aids. That got me in trouble. Remember that many of our faculty have been out of nursing for some time and are thinking more globally than NCLEX level. The good news is that in these types of situations, when we sit down to take the actual NCLEX, we'll be prepared. I'm not giving up my review books. Just gonna bear this in mind next time I test.

Glad you're doing better. It sounds more like an individual incident than a trend.
