Enthusiam and how do you keep it UP?

I'm a older (38) student , who will finish an LPN program in December. This is all I have ever wanted to do with my life. I want to finish in the worst way, but find my enthusiam waning. Plus, I have started having migranes. Everyone says it will be worth it. What can I do to keep encouraging myself to continue? And will it be worth it?

OH! Please keep going! You're almost there! Don't look at the whole picture; just take it one exam/clinical at a time, one day at a time! So many of us felt this way, and we were SO TIRED! So many times, I felt like I would NEVER be a nurse, that it couldn't POSSIBLY be true, that I would make it, but here I am, here we are, and you will be too. Keep your sense of humor. It carried me sometimes when nothing else would. Keep on keeping on! Good luck.

Wow, look at where you are at! So many don't even make it past the entrance exams! LPN school is hectic and stressful, and you wonder if any of it is going to stick in your brain after all is said and done. IT DOES! It is amazing to me how much I reflect back to a certain teacher, pt from clinicals, or lesson learned while in school. Eventually everything does fall into place and makes perfect sense!

I remember how wore out I was and even though I was close to graduating, was still overwhelmed to the point I wasn't sure I was going to make it through another grueling test or long day of clinicals and care plans. But I did it, and oh how blessed and happy I am. It was ever so worth all the stress and HA's.

Even though your time is limited between studying, family, work or what have you, you do need to take some time for just you. Take a few moments to reflect on how far you have come, envision where you hope to go and do. Take time to relax in a bubble bath, listening to the music of your choice and think of something other than school. Those few precious moments enable you to refresh and refocus. You can get through this, you will get through this. Remember to laugh and keep your chin up.

Best of luck to you! -Jodie
