eBooks?? worth the $$??

I am starting nursing school Jr1 in January. I am trying to decide if it is worth the extra $200 for the ebook package. It's a lot of books. It would be nice just to have my laptop. Do you use the books a lot in class? Has anyone tried the ebook packages? Which did you find you used more? Any opinions are appreciated.

I bought an ebook last term out of necessity. The disadvantage to ebooks is that you pay approximately the cost of a used book but after the time period is up, you have no access to the book. If you buy a used book, then you have the book to keep or to sell to someone else.

Hmmmm....I wonder if that changes publisher to publisher. I have e-books that I have resident on my computer, they don't expire.

I've had online components to text books (like extra study activities and practice tests) that were online and ordered with a bundle from a textbook and that expired after the term.....but my e-books are mine.

To the OP: I think it would depend on how you interact with text books. Are you someone who likes to write notes in the margin? Or highlight? If so, do you have a tablet computer?

I do like to write when I read, but have a tablet....so I can still annotate as I go.

Mine came with a subscription period, I believe it was one year. Haven't accessed it since the class ended.
