Don't know whether to start nursing

HI everyone, I'm just asking for your advice! I'm going to qualify as an RN in the summer, but I don't know if I really want to go into nursing anymore. I don't know if it's just nerves about qualifying, or if I really don't like the job. All my other friends that are qualifying seem to be really motivated, applying for jobs etc but I just get that "sinking feeling" just thinking about it! I was just wondering if anyone else had feelings like this (or feel like this) just before they stop being "students" and start being "real nurses"??

I was scared in the beginning too. All I could think about is that I was going to be responsible for someone's well being. Once I started though I really enjoyed it. I have been doing it for 15 years and am now going back so that I can be even more responsible for my patients.

Hi,

It sounds like you have "cold feet" - like some people get right before they walk down the aisle to get married. They've planned their wedding for a long time and when the time comes to actually "do it" they totally panic.

You've obviously put a lot of time and effort into school and planning for this career. My advise would be to at least find a job and see how it goes - hopefully you'll love it. Wishing you all the best. SusanNC
