SWAB - What was used to cleanse the site of venepuncture? Hospitals often use isopropyl alcohol to cleans cite of blood draw, which can contaminate blood sample. Also, if NIK kit used, ask in discovery for content of forensic swab. If betadyne, EtOH is an "inert" ingredient.

Does anyone know where i could get scientific support for this?

Alright, I am not claiming to be the supreme authority on this subject, but as far as I know betadine does not contain alcohol, and I think that it is used as a substitute antiseptic when the pt. is allergic to EtOH. Here is the MSDS of betadine http://www.safety.vanderbilt.edu/pdf/hcs_msds/betadine_%20pvpsolution.pdf so that you can review it. It says that it is non-combustable and contained EtOH then it would seem like it would be flammable, right?
