Does anyone else feel lonely?

I know we're doing this with classmates and we have people around us at home in most cases, but does anyone else feel like you're all alone in your own universe and you can just sort of see everyone else "out there"?

I know I just feel overwhelmed and no one at school can really understand (or have time or mental capacity to deal with) my home issues and no one at home can really understand my school issues. So I sort of feel left all by myself to deal with everything...and very lonely.

Is this normal or happening to anyone else or am I a prime candidate for a psych consult?:o

Please give me any sort of imput on this.

Thanks,

Alyssa

You are no more ready for a psych consult than anybody else. Loneliness is part of the human condition. It comes and goes at times.....even in the middle of a crowd.

And you have chosen to place yourself into a stressful situation (welcome to nursing school).......

You can do it, but unless you are doing it and right at that moment.......noone else knows the stress and feelings that you are going through.....

Give yourself a break, always remember to work and study hard, but give time for just relax and play........

Life is too short.......

lonely is passing.....

sometimes it is alone.....that we wish for......

ramblin on

be well

study hard,

welcome to nursing

PM anytime,

we are never truly alone,

much is our own choice

I know where you are coming from...one day at a time, one moment at a time. That's all we can do. I often feel like "other people" are part of a circle and I am a dot on the outside of the circle. I can never quite be part of the circle. It's just this picture I get in my head sometimes; it's hard to describe. But sometimes when you least expect it, someone or something comes along and you start feeling a lot better. Hang in there; we are all here for you!

Hello. I think it is always hard to put yourself in someones shoes to know how they feel. Heck I have five kids and hubby and animals and I get feeling like that. I am in school too, it takes it toll so does family and home issues. Eventually we all feel like we are tired. I don't think your alone but I know it feels like that sometimes. WE all have good days and bad ones.

Hang in there,

I was in my 40's when I started nursing school and I felt the same way. That's when I learned that a good ol' fashioned hug can solve just about anything. so ((((((this hug's for you))))))

Hey Diana, I like the way you put that. Me too. Wanna make our own circle? Anyone else is welcome too... :)

Alyssa, you don't need a psych consult, just lots of hugs.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh....

Here for ya ! ;)

I feel like that almost everyday, Alyssa. I feel like I think different, look different, and act different and that nobody can relate to me. I keep thinking things will get better once I start school. I've even tried making friends with people on this site who are in my area, but I feel like I don't have anything in common with them and one of the 2 people I have been writing has been ignoring me for no apparent reason. Nothing makes you feel better than not knowing wtf is wrong.

If you feel like you need to vent and don't mind listening to a couple of my woes, you can pm me. I'd be happy to get to know you!

I'm sure things will get better for you. Hang in there!

Just to let you know there is nothing wrong with asking for some extra help. Self-care is very important. I attended a therapy group last year to help with the stress of moving, attending school etc. If you are full-time at a 4year school, they often have low-cost/free counseling services. Many social service agencies offer counseling on a sliding scale. I have also taken antidepressants before. I got a 3 month supply for spring semester. I also exercise and try to have friends that I can really talk to. I'm older than most of my classmates so I'm often lonely, round peg in square hole and all that. Please don't hesitate to get professional help if you feel like things are getting out of control. You can't be a good caregiver if you don't tke good care of yourself first! :kiss

Alyssa,

Thanks for sharing your feelings! I have been feeling the same way the past couple of days. I'm a career switcher and in my first yr. of nursing school. At times I feel like I'm on the outside looking in, particularly since the age difference is there. I also think that the stress of school is starting to set in and this might have something to do with it.

Swiftee,

If you need someone to talk to, PM me anytime. I'm fairly new to this board and have yet to get to know many posters well. Don't give up. It takes time to establish a rapport with people, particularly on a board like this where you can't see each other face to face.

Just continue to believe in yourself!

Too many stresses and not always enough shoulders. I try to talk to my fiance about my school issues, but since was lucky and got a great job without having to get his degree...... he's clueless as to what I'm going through. Then I try to vent about home issues with friends at school in between study sessions or on our way to a lab. Luckily I found the BB! I never realized that nursing students go through the same thing. It's been ssoooo reassuring to know I'm not the only one going through this or feeling a certain way! Thanks y'all :)
