hello everyone.....
i am new to this board...just found it yesterday.....WOW...how nice too....

i am a 45 yr ol LPN student nurse........i have been a stay at home mom for the last 20 yrs and have always wanted to be a nurse...so last yr i took the entrance test and here I am.....4 mos into the program....it is one yr program......very intsense too i might add.....i do pretty good.....89 average.....BUT...i have concerns with documenting.......no matter how much i work at it....i just dont know what to say........i ramble.....or forget to add something.....this insnt in the real setting but my for our intructor........does it come eventually? the more you do it?

also..we are in our 2nd half of clinicals......first half was in a residental care facilty and now we are on a med surge unit.......BUT the floor nurses are AWFUL and RUDE.....they do not help or want us there....there are a couple who are willing to help.....but for the most part.....nope....like this one nurse completey ignored a student while she asked a question.....then another nurse said yesterdya......i havent been on the floor in over a month....you know just as much as i do.....i feel like i am NOT getting the experience i need.......anyone else been thru this??

Hi, momtojosh, and welcome to allnurses!

Since you are new to allnurses, let me point out about "stickys" to you. They are threads that always appear at the very top of the thread listings of any allnurses forum. The stickys for the student forums have now been consolidated into one thread that appears at the very top of this and other student forums. If you open up that thread, you will find a list of a whole bunch of threads that have all kinds of information that is helpful to nursing students. Some of it is pretty good to have.

There is a specific thread on documentation on the student forums. It has links to examples of different types of nursing documentation (charting) and explanations and examples of charting. Here is the link to it:Can't be of much help with the rude people. You're going to run into rude people wherever you go, including patients. It's part of the nature of interacting with people. Those who work in other types of service industries have the very same problem with coworkers and customers.

Default Re: documenting
YES! YES! Been there , done that! My name is worstnurse because, I am the worstnurse to ask for advice on wanting to be a nurse, i will tell them go into another area! Nurses can be, backbiting, nasty, ignorant. Most of the nurses I have really liked are very nice, and caring and older nurses are known for " EATING their YOUNG!" I have now been a nurse 20 + years, and have stayed nice, but not to nasty nurses. I will treat them as they treat others. You KNOW who you are out there! there should be a prerequisite that you are a nice person. It IS after all supposed to be a field for caring, compassionate people if it didnt pay so well, we might get rid of the jerks.
