Hi everyone,
I was just curious as to what other schools do with exams. Do you get your exams back or do they keep them? I know that with distance learning, many of the schools do not give the exams back and in addition some do not provide much feedback.

We review the exam in class then they are collected. We are allowed to go to the instructors office for up to three weeks after the exam to review them again and challenge anything we feel we need to. After three weeks we are never allowed to see them again.

we're welcome to stop by our teacher's office to view our exams. Usually she just hands us out our scores in class, if you have any questions you're always welcome to see her.

Ours are not returned to us. We have a "test review" after the test, where they run through the answers at break-neck speed, and you have to try to remember what you answered. They do not allow any questions or discussion. If you have a problem with any of the answers, you write them down and they consider what you had to say. You never get the opportunity to discuss questions or (gasp!) actually LEARN from your mistakes by having an instructor explain the logic behind the answer. Your grade is confirmed a week later when they hand back a computer print-out of your scan-tron sheet results.
I really hate this method.

in pharm and assessment we get to review the test paper and have to give it back before leaving the room...in micro, we get our scantron back in order to know our grade, but if we want to actually look at the test again, we have to go to her office and review it there...
after tests i immediately highlight test material in my notes so i have some clue what to study for finals...

We have a test review for no more than one hour before the next class that follows the exam. We are allowed to ask questions and talk to other students, but we can't have out pens or paper for fear of us writing down the questions. We are allowed to see the actual test and our answer sheet, but not the scantron, for some reason. One week after the test students are allowed to make an appt. with the instructor to argue an answer, and then right away the tests are shredded and the teacher keeps our answer sheets. Half of the students don't take advantage of the test reviews, which I don't understand because it helps me learn what I did wrong. The teachers are usually pretty good about the timeliness of handing out grades, except for my Professional Development teacher, who has yet to give us **ANY GRADE AT ALL!!!!** We still have no idea what we got on the mid-term, the paper worth 50% of our grade....and the final is in 2 weeks!!!! :uhoh21:

I hate it too. We do not get our exams back and I am wondering how on earth we are supposed to learn that way. God forbid the instructor should give some actual logic behind one of the exam questions. Not happening where I go to school.
Actually, some of the instructors are better at communicating than others are, but overall there is very little feedback regarding tests.

No, we do not get them back. We review them one time only, no notes can be taken...no paper or pens allowed on the tables.

We don't get paper and pencil tests. Everything is on the computer. We get our scores instantly and get the opportunity to review what we missed before we leave the room which is pretty cool.

We don't get ours back either. We take them on Friday, the grades are posted on Monday or Tuesday, and we can sit in the instructor's office to go over it if we choose to (mandatory if you fail it).
I wish we did get them back; would help us in studying for the cumulative final.

During our tests we mark our answers on the test booklet and on the answer sheet. When we are done we turn in the answer sheet and when everyone is done we grade our tests. They give us 5-7 minutes to write down any that we do not agree with and then we turn in the test booklets and the comments. Then whenever is convenient for the teacher there is a test review where you ask questions and they answer. If you want something more in depth the Nursing Department Chair is always willing to sit down with us and discuss our tests. :) We do not get to keep our tests or our answer sheets.

We have the test with a seperate answer sheet. We go over the test in class, and all we get to keep is the answer sheet.
