Confused about what path to choose

This is my first post and I didn't see a question like it so far..Right now I'm in the process of doing some refresher courses @ Daley College in chicago. Since the advisors here thought I might struggle since I've been out of school for a while .. However by doing so and the way that Daley College only admits in the fall I'm looking at over a year in waiting to apply to get in. Since Lpn takes about that long I'm starting to wonder if I should switch over to an LPN program. Complete it then switch over to the RN program. I know it's not going to take me over a year to complete all the prerequisites and other reqirements for the RN program. And I just hate the idea that I won't have anything to do in the mean time. Plus I will need a source of income ,mim. wage won't cut it. So what are my options here?? What's a good LPN school in chicago? I hope I was clear in stating my problem and thanx in advance for reading.

cheers

I'm not in your area so I'm not sure how it works around you, but where I am I looked into doing the LPN to RN bridge program as well. I found that it is actually harder to get into a LPN school bridge program than an RN program. For instance, the community colleges bridge programs say on line that they only accept applicants when they have space available in their RN program. Now when will that be?? Probably never. So my advice would be to search your local LPN bridge programs find out all the info first and then go from there. Is there a waiting list? And so on.
