Clipboard Question

  1. I ordered a "Nurse Assist" clipboard at orientation along with a bunch of other stuff I wish I never ordered. It seems that a lot of people prefer the clipboards that have storage. This one does not, it has a built in calculator and a lot of Nursing information printed on the front and back. Should I try and Ebay this one and buy a storage clipboard or just stick with it?

I listed my Traditional Sprague I also ordered on Ebay today. My sister gave me a lightweight sprague and I already bought a Littman.

I love my $2 Walmart clipboard with storage. Many of my fellow students have the same one. I just found another reason I love it. During breaks, all my clinical items fit inside it. In a house full of children out of sight out of mind helps my things from walking off.

Only you can decide what tools will work for your level of organization. It will all make sense soon enough.

    Good luck, dave

Started with the smaller clipboard w/calculator and thought I "had" to have the storage one. I bought the large one at Wally World w/ calculator. I found that it is entirely TOO BIG and went back to the smaller one. My uniform and lab coat have the pockets I need for storage.:wink2:

Thanks for the replies! I was at Walmart tonight and saw the big one for only $6 so I grabbed it. I'll try them both out then figure it out.

I got my Littman engraved at Sears tonight for $8 It looks really good too.

I also bought a clipboard at walmart. I does not have a calculator but has the handy storage. I bought my daughter one as well. She is constantly drawing so this is handy to carry around.

I had a clipboard with storage and it drove me nuts. I switched to a plain jane brown one with no calculator and love it. I'm a minimalist by nature so having a bunch of stuff with me isn't happening. I have the bare minimum in my pockets.

none of the nurses on our unit use their own clipboards. there's usually a binder (w/ orders and etc.) and a clipboard (where i&o, fingersticks & insulin dosages, and etc. are recorded) at each room's station. other than that, the nurses seem to "travel lightly," carrying only a steth, pens, and a few other misc. items.

was your clipboard specifically listed as required for orientation?
