Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

Hi there!

I am an ADN bridge student and a class of 2015.

I'm in my second semester at this time.

Orientation might be different at your school, but this is the time you will get a better idea/overview of what to expect and what is expected of you as a student. Good to take notes:-)

Congrats on your entrance and good luck with orientation.

I was just accepted in a local ADN program and am so excited (and nervous). Our orientation isn't until July so I still have a while to wait before I get all of the details of the program (scrubs, schedule, program expectations). I have already got most of the items off of our checklist done so that helps out a lot.

I just started my accelerated program two weeks ago. I still feel like an imposter:nailbiting:, like any second they are going to come tell me I'm in the wrong class. I know I've worked hard to be here, but it still feels surreal. We had to purchase all the things you mentioned, plus khaki pants and a University polo for public health clinicals.

So, I will chime in with a "Yea us!!"

I am starting the last 2 years of a BSN program this fall. 2015 feels far away but I know it will fly! I have also been reading a lot of books to prepare for nursing classes/school: Mosbys Tour Guide to Nursing School & How to Survive (Maybe Even Love Nursing School) -- both highly recommended!

My orientation was a few weeks ago. My school is a private religious (not for profit)for university, so tuition is higher. But they give out amazing financial aid packages. Thanks to them, my tuition will be the same rate as a state school. Anyways, they are going to cover our scrubs & all our ATI fees (we will take the ATI every semester). I am stalking amazon & other book sellers for the cheapest prices on texts. My sister is a recovering "extreme" couponer so I have a lot of school supplies (binders, notebooks, pens) stockpiled & ready for the fall.

Good luck to all :) We got this :)

We got this ladies and gents!!! I start July 8 at an ADN program, couldn't be more excited. This month of June is going to drag by lol

Hi everyone! Another class of 2015 ADN student

We had Orientation part 1 on May 2nd, which was a 2 hour session with all tracks reporting (fall, spring, 3-year & alternates). We'll have our actual cohort orientation (part 2) in August a few weeks before school starts.

I still have to get my background check ($85) and fingerprinting ($65) done. I just placed my order for textbooks today. I found all 19 of them on Amazon, which saved me quite a few hundred bucks, compared to getting them in the college book store  They should arrive in a week. Totally excited to open that package!!!

I've placed my order for my scrubs. We have royal blue pants & top, plus we're required to where a white shirt underneath it, as well as white shoes. I ordered a purple stethoscope (Littman Classic SE II), which goes well with the scrubs. The scrub tops have to be embroidered with our school's logo and "nursing student" on them, so I'm still waiting for them to arrive at the uniform center. It really sank in when I tried on the sample uniform that it's actually happening!

Besides the fingerprinting & background check, I also have to finish the paperwork on my immunization history, get a physical and a blood titer done to prove I've had chicken pox as a kid so I don't have to get the varicella vaccine. I've already sent in my completed nursing contract to the school, formally accepting my seat in the Fall 2013 2-year program. I'm so excited to get started!!! :D :D :D

Hi everyone! I start NS in late August. It's a program where the first year you get your Lpn, then if you do well and complete all the requirements, you continue the next year to get you ADN. So I will finish with my ADN in May 2015. Wow that seems far away! We had our orientation already and I am excited! I've already bought my scrubs, shoes, and many of my books. Working now on getting the physical done and background check completed.

Hubby is deploying a few weeks before my school starts so we are taking the summer to do several big family vacations just us and the kids. I know this summer will fly by and then it's nose to the grind stone. We have four kids so this will be a challenge doing school but I'm ready for the challenge.

That's the way our program is. You go Fall & Spring and then sit for the NCLEX-PN. If you wish to stop at LPN, you're done with the program. If you stay on for RN, you do the next Fall & Spring and then sit for the NCLEX-RN.

I like the fact that I can work part time as an LPN next summer :)

Me too! At first I thought it was strange but it's nice to know if something happens I will have my Lpn after a year. You never know what life may throw your direction!

I'm Class of 2015, too! ADN program for me. Orientation isn't until August, just before classes start. Uniforms are white tops and blue bottoms, and we're required to buy two tops, two bottoms, a lab coat, a name badge and a stethoscope. And shoes. We must have all white shoes. That's all I know for certain until our orientation. Right now I'm in the process of getting my immunizations in order. I also had to do a background check and drug test. I've also heard our textbooks are going to cost an arm and a leg.

I can't help but grin every time I look at my name badge with my name and ADN Student underneath it! :woot:

Congrats to all of us!
