Manna, I am from New Orleans and since we are neighbors, I thought you were going to a school near here since you said that it was so far away from where you are now.

I got all A's this semester, but I am definitely keeping my notes because I didn't retain much and I need to do some heavy reading before fall 2004

Great news, Agent! Good luck, and thanks for resurrecting this dead thread! LOL

I'm already stressing out about this semester, and it just began yesterday! I'm taking philosophy, american lit and chemistry online. I was going to take the two PE/health courses required at the senior college where I'm applying to nursing school, but my advisor (who is also head of the BSN program) told me if I waited until I'm through with my transfer courses I could qualify for a scholarship! WOOHOO! I was excited about that, I'll definately postpone a few extra classes for some free $$! LOL

She also told me that my chances are "better than average" for being accepted into the BSN program. They send out acceptance/denial letters in late February/early March, so I guess I'll be on pins and needles until then.

I'm just hoping and praying that if I DO get in, I'll be able to find a way to afford to go (I'll have to quit my job, and my husband and I are separating so I will have very little financial help). If you're a praying/positive thought kinda person, I'd appreciate any you could send my way!

    Hey Folks,

This site is GREAT! I love it, where else can people from across the country share ideas and experiences as we go through nursing school together!

I'm a 37 yof, father of 3, full-time employed, and husband to a wonderful woman! I'm trying to finish my prereq'a this semester (Spring 2004) and I am excitedly looking forward to clinicals and Nursing theory in the Fall 2004.

Working full-time only allows me to take classes part-time so I am planning on graduating in Spring 2006!

Welcome! What kind of work do you do now, if you don't mind me asking? Just curious, lots of career changers hanging around these boards!

Congrats, Agent! That IS good news! I'm still waiting. If I don't make it in this fall or next winter, I'll be a 2007 grad. Ugh. Oh well, at least I'll make it out before my daughter makes it out of high school (in 2008)!! I HOPE

Welcome mnurse2b! Good to see more of us "Non-traditional" students around here. I'll be finished with my pre-reqs by this summer. Going part-time here too, since I work full-time.

edit>> I just found out they have limits on how many people can take the exam at a time and its full. I'm so pissed. What kind of crap is that?

So I emailed the director asking if I can take the exam anywhere else.

edit>> The director already emailed me back telling that as long as my test is TAKEN before March3rd I'll be okay, so I have to go register today.

I am 34 w/ 2 kids 2 1/2 & 4 1/2 yrs. I am taking prereq now. Anatomy this semester. I applied to the entry Masters programs because I already have a BS Hope to hear soon if I got in and hope to statr this summer.

Those of you who have a BS have you looked into the entry masters progams in your area it is much faster (3 yrs). Especially for those who are planning on going all the way to get an MSN. Just a thought.

When I started out looking into to becoming an RN I started at the ADN level & then looked at a second BSN and relaized that the best route for me was entry MSN programs.

    Best of luck to everyone.

Good luck Amy, I hope you get in for the soonest term! My goal is to graduate by the time I'm 30, but we'll see if I accomplish that or not (2007).

Thanks for the prayers Agent, I really appreciate. Good luck on that entrance exam, thank goodness you were able to get in. What a lot of drama... I run into lots of problems like that at the school where I'm doing my pre-reqs because of communication problems. Two people in the same office will tell you two totally different things... drives me nuts.

Hi ER! Glad you joined us. What is your other BS in? I looked at an entry-level masters at Vandy (even though I don't already have a BS), but I feel like I want to have some nursing experience before I decide what I want to go on and get a MSN in.

Hi Rocky, glad you joined us too. When will you hear if you got in? Good luck! There's a lot of us here just waiting on some good news!

Hi Jules, glad you joined us too! I have two boys also - 5 and 2. They're lots of fun, aren't they? What does STNA stand for (I'm guessing something nurse-assistant?)

Right here. Assuming I get into the program this fall (NET is next month) and assuming I pass Micro this summer (the chemistry prereq is waived if you've already taken micro before starting the nursing program, but if I don't pass Micro, I'll have to take Chemistry, so I'd have to get a deferment for a semester for entering the program), I'll be graduating in May '06.
