Hello everyone,

I'm student nurse from UniKL RCMP. My group had given an assignment from our lecturer based on the the scenario. The assignment is case based learning. This case based learning is to enhance student to develop thinking skills.

The scenario :

"›78 years old patient, Ah Meng who is hard- hearing, admitted for shortness of breath, possible pneumonia and urosepsis. Patient was transferred from a nursing home. It is the start of the shift. The nurse walks in the room to find the patient slumped down in the bed, 02 tubing is off, the bed linens are skewed and the patient is minimally responsive. The patient is to receive pre-breakfast medications. The patient then proceeds to attempt to get out of bed, is combative and does not respond to the nurse's questioning. The patient continues to call out ‘nurse, nurse'. The patient has had an episode of fecal incontinence. Physician orders to prepare the patient for a colonoscopy (an enema is to be given, which the nurse is told, the client's oxygen saturation remains below 90% and the respiratory problems worsen – the nurse has no orders other than the patient is to receive oxygen. The patient is responsive at times."

The assignment is almost finish but we are confusing on nursing responsibilities that we can do during the situation. We need to submit this case based learning next week so I hope you guys can help us to settle this problem. Thank you.

Sorry for the broken English:(
