Care Plan books?

I liked Clair Campbell but alot of people did not like her books.

IMO, the absolute BEST care plan books came from Mary Doenges. you can google her name and find all kinds of sites to order from.

I have the Nursing Diagnosis Reference manual, 5th edition, it is by Sparks/Taylor published by Springhouse.

I really like it.

I also have the Doenges book and that's what most people in my program have as well. It divides nursing diagnoses by medical diagnoses and it also has a well-organized index.

I have Doenges Nursing Care Plans (guidelines for individualizing patient care, Edition 5), and to be honest, I didn't care for the book and found it (for the most part) to be a wasted expense.

Most of my classmates have this book. I think we run about 50-50 on who likes it as opposed to those who dont.

In deference to EmeraldNYL, I'd suggest you get a chance to browse through several books at a library or the school book store, and see if the layout and information structure is to your liking.

My favorite is published by Mosby. It's called "Nursing Care Plans, Nursing Diagnosis and Intervention (4th edition), ISBN 0-8151-2471-6. It is easy to follow and really works when you are doing med/surg etc. I've also got one for pediatrics and maternity, but I mostly use the one listed above.
