Can't afford nursing school

  1. This is more like a vent. I got accepted into nursing school but I'm $5000 short. I already have fed loans but it just wasn't enough. I'm not against private loans I'm just not able to get one. I don't have any credit and my mom has bad credit and student loans that she still owes. I feel like this is my only chance so I just have to do what I have to do.

Have you looked for grants? There is a TON of money out there, but it takes effort and time to find it and jump through all the hoops to get it. Good Luck!

You can afford nursing school. You can't afford a for-profit school. Do yourself a favor and find a cheaper place. You'll be grateful 5, 10, 15 years from now!

I've tried regular colleges I've been waitlisted and denied this is the only one I got accepted in. I'm just taking what I can

$665 per redit hour! Holy CRAP! I have never seen one that high before! WoW!!!!! How many years as a nurse will it take to pay that off? Holy crap!

I understand that. But if you can't pay for it, I'm not really sure how it's an option either. Have you tried applying for scholarships? Obviously you wouldn't have them in a couple weeks, but I know Chaimberland has pretty frequent start dates, and could take you when you're more prepared.

I think it is better to wait it out on a waitlist rather than pay so much for Chamberlain. Seriously, that is way too much for tuition & you are still 5k short... I know community colleges where the whole program costs just that little.

They have other start dates I'm just really frustrated and tired of waiting.

I understand being tired of waiting, it does suck. However I also know people coming out of school 60 grand in debt and 5 years later, are still massively under the table and can't even think of grad school b/c of the debt they have now. Good luck with your decision!

Indefinitely understand that. I think a lot of us have tales of having to delay our starting or finishing for a ton of different reasons. It's tough. But it's also part of life and being an adult, unfortunately. Road blocks everywhere.
