Hi everone it as been a long time since i last posted. Am very busy at the moment with exams and assignments. I have a question to ask everyone, and i would be very grateful of any feed back given

You have a patient with ischaemic heart disease and who are also diabetic, they attend ER with shortness of breath but no chest pain. Upon examination by the doctors and after numerous tests the patient is found to have suffered a heart attack (mi) can anyone explain why they suffered no chest pain even though it was a very acute mi would be grateful of any feedback

Thanks

I would lead you to think of a diabetic's neurosensory deficits, but I won't tell you the answer (although I think I just did) .

Its important for you to research and find this out for yourself, or it probably won't mean anything to you.

Thank you I did think it was along that line, Have been searching the web for research (am not good at this) but have not had any luck so far.

Did you look in your nursing textbooks? Most of the diabetic stuff we covered was in my med-surg textbook, although there was also a lot in the fundamentals.

fairly common for diabetics to have no pain w/ cardiac ischemia...women also present w/ atypical symptoms....
