As a recent student, I had to write out my own drug cards during my first two semesters. Sometimes I had to write out 30+ drug cards in one day, depending on the patient I was assigned. I was frantically scribbling just to get credit for finishing them, so I didn't retain one iota of information. I would have preferred to have been able to use pre-made cards because then I would have actually had time to study said cards. Just my opinion.

You best ask your instructor if pre-made drug cards are allowed. They are not in my program (and the drug cards are for Nursing, not Pharm in my program) and not making your own will cause you to fail.

Thanks everyone for the responses! The drug cards aren't for any assignments or marks; just for own use and a reference point for clients. I decided I'd save the time (let's be honest, I don't have any) and purchase them.

Second semester student, 4th week in. We're starting (started, I'm a wee bit behind!) drug cards in Pharm, and I'm faced with a dilemma. Our bookstore sells pre-made drug cards with everything you need. But, I could also make them myself. I can't decide which to do. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance!

I'd say make them yourself. For me, anyway, I got a bit of extra OOMPH to my learning by going through the motions of writing things out.

Make them yourself, it helps to remember them and you can write what your instructor really wants and what you really need.

Some instructors won't even allow commercial drug cards, they require the student to do the work themselves. Follow your instructor's guidelines and do what you find is most efficient for your learning.
