BSN vs. MSN

Is there a difference in pay between a BSN and a MSN?
And if I get my BSN and continue my education to get my MSN how much longer would it take?

The difference in pay depends greatly on what you desire to do with your MSN. Teach? Manage? NP? CRNP? Each one of these areas can have dramatically different salry expectations. The length of time it would take for you to get your MSN would, again, depend on what you were specializing in. A MSN with a concentration in management or education might take 1-2 years, whereas one with a concentration in NP or CRNP might take 2-3 years.

I will not be getting a pay raise with my masters, there is just the one differential at my hospital for a degree, doesn't matter what level it is.

I get paid less by the community college per hour (as adjunct faculty in the SON) with my masters than I do at the hospital with my bachelors, doing staff nursing. Part of that is my hospital seniority though. Since I am not interested in management the MSN won't do much for me at the hospital; I do enjoy teaching at the CC, but only one class since I need the hosp. pay to meet my bills.
