Has Anybody ever completely bombed a semester and still made it into a good RN program? Or should I just give up now?

Check out my profile haha. I bombed a LOT when I was young and worked my butt off to make up for the low grades. Got into a good program and graduated in may on time. Don't give up, figure out where you went wrong and fix it :) good luck!

Thanx for your encouragement. I am so worried about my gpa. I Got a 2 Fs and 1 B so i was worried that it couldn't be made up. The semester before that one i got 3Bs and an A. The one after I just got 2 Bs but those Fs really affected my gpa. I'm going to try to make them up though.

Can you retake the classes you failed? Some schools will replace the failing grade with the passing in your GPA so only the higher counts (I'd ask a nursing advisor about that one)

Yes i talked to my advisor and i totally can. However i notice that a lot of the programs still count all attempts at classes taken.

You are going to have to retake the Fs if they are requirements for your program. Generally, you can't get less than a C. Most programs have a min GPA to apply. It's usually around a 2.5, but you often need much higher to be competitive. Trying to get into nursing school is extremely competitive. I would speak to a nursing advisor, not just a general one. They can give you a better idea.

I would like to think that by taking them over and showing what vast improvements can be made, that it would only help to bolster your admissions attempt! But I'm not a college looking over transcripts of prospective students. Best of luck!!!

I spent my first year in college at 18 bombing out and being placed on academic probation. I did end up eventually getting into two nursing programs, but that was after earning a BA in my mid-20s with high-ish GPA and then going back again and earning high grades in the pre-reqs. I would say, though, that it took at least two semesters of all As for my academic record to look sound again. I tend to think that a big turnaround over a period of time will look admirable, but who knows.

Keep in mind, though, that even if a program states a minimum GPA/requires a C+ in pre-reqs/whatever, you will still be competing with students who earned As. Retake the classes, but figure out what you need to do to get Bs or As. Is it organization? Study habits? Do you need a tutor? If you want to get into nursing school, work your butt off and make it happen. :)
