Phew...!

I did not think that nursing school was going to be like this!!!!

OMG it is definately challenging to go to NS and having to work FT does not make it any easier!

we have less then a month to finish the semester, learning NG tubes, ostomy, J's, wound care, and 14 chapters of pharmacology is not easy to do all at once!!!

At first i thought i was going to struggle at clinicals and do great on the class, now i love clinicals, but not so much my lectures!!!

it is too much work, i study around 7 hours per night at work and it is not enough!!!

I am not failing, Thanks to ^^ the Lord, but I am having to "woop" it up and study like a maniac for some humpf so so grades! i am averaging a very low A on my classes, in fact i think i have got a high B now, since my last test for fundamentals was not so hot!!!

plus i have to be honest, girs are too much drama oh my good! they complain about every single little thing... i just think to myself.... are you going to complain to your patient whi is he so sick? why cant he cope with your care plan as you wished???? get mad at the pct??? LOL!!!

seriously the drama has stressed the h**L of me to the point that i run away from people!!! i go far away and listen to some music on the break... outa 24 i can stand about 8 the rest just... does not cut it!!!!

they complain that the test was hard, then they complain because the quiz was not on the right proportion since we had 6 chapters to cover and it focused on2 of them with fewer questions on the other 4 chapters... OHHH MYYY..!

I do have a few good friends, who i can speak with... but the rest i give up!!! there is people even getting mad because i they ask how i did and i say good! so when i ask about them, they will junst burst into a stress atack!!!

NS shows the weak side of people... just like on Big brothers or a reality tv show!!!!

Jerry Jerry Jerry!!!

I guess i dont love NS so much! even though i like my instructors and professors, it is the students that i cant stand!!!

I frankly told about 3 girls, i said, you know what... dont talk to me! you will only complain, that turn around and talk bs because i did good!!!

the worse thing is that about 12/24 are failing!!!

ahhhhh

cant wait till this is over!!!

ns... with a whole bunch of back stabber slugger, lazy, girls... blah too much estrogen for me!

sorry for venting!!!

It was stressing me out, all that drama, now, i am feeling better, since i dont have to "socialize" and be nice to them i just say hello and that is it!

Wow! I'm so glad my classmates don't have drama....at least none that I've noticed. It sounds like you are doing good, hang in there!

Ah, end of the semester burn out. Don't ya just love it.:banghead::banghead::banghead: Sounds to me like your doing pretty good "low A"

I think everyone here has some drama in their classes so don't feel bad. I have some of those same people in my class, if I didn't know any better I would say we went to the same school. There are times when I have have to do like you and go off by myself or plug in the music so I don't have to listen to it and don't feel bad by telling them you did good on a test. It is none of their business what you got. The one I love are the people who sign up last for instructor checkoffs and then want to call me to find out how bad was it, what did they make me do, what questions did they ask. I am all for helping people out, but don't expect me to make it easier for you because you didn't want to go to the practice labs. There is always one that waits for us outside and literally says "just tell me what I need to know I didn't have time to study" but they always has time to party on the weekends.

Just worry about your studies and try not to let them get to you. You will be a better person for it.

Sounds to me like you are doing great!!!:yeah:

Well keep at it, it's obviously trying but you are doing something right to be keeping up your grades. I can completely understand your views on girls LOL, I have very few close girlfriends and most always tell me I think to much like a man. (not on everything, I do have an emotional side to me since becoming a mom) I guess that is why I always tend to get along with guys better.

Anyway, best of luck to you, it sounds like you are right on pace, just picture the end!

OMG...I can see that in the past 27 yrs...nothing has changed......I was just like you....could not stand the drama...came late to tests on purpose to avoid it!!!......you are on the right track...i graduated first in my class out of 88 students b/c i avoided the drama and study groups as well. Whenever I went to study groups I always ended up teaching and then leading them instead of adding to my knowledge base.....so I just ditched them.

There's a lot of drama, but if its anything like my school it will die down once people start to fail out. We're at the halfway point and even the most drama queen types have started to buckle down and get serious (its gotten tougher if thats even possible) You said the worst part is that half are failing. I hate to sound mean, but thats actually probably the best part. I feel bad for those that fail, but its a lot easier to concentrate when those who are not serious are gone.

As for girls and their drama... lol. There is a lot of pettiness that I've seen/experienced since our class started but guess who was at the heart of it? the sole guy in our class. So as much as you feel women are hormonal, its not a girl problem. Its a stress problem. People are not used to dealing with the amount of stress involved in nursing school (yourself included from the sound of it). I have the same grade issues as you. Studying my tail off day and night for ok but not great grades, and frustrated because I've always gotten As with ease.

People are going to flip out and there are those that will never accept that they are the reason they are failing. Every end of class (ours are 9 wk increments) you are going to have huge spastic temper tantrums as this person or that fails out and "didnt see it coming" or "would have passed if it werent for the teacher doing x, y, z". Last quarter end, if one of the girls who failed out had been on TV, she would have been a straight constant *BLEEP* because she managed to use more curse words than actual words and about 2 octaves above speaking volume, every word she said for the entire day (it was a day when we had class from 10am till 9:30pm too, ugh)

You get used to it, and by that I mean you reach a point where you don't hear it anymore because you're so stressed or focused on your grades that there's simply no time to deal with the drama even if you did want you to.

I start nurs school in the fall and i have only used study groups twice for my micro midterm/final. I'm a self learner always been.

Ahhh yes, the joys of nursing school. Just keep your eye on the prize and let the rest fall to the side! Good luck and I too had very good grades but never put alot of stock into them. C's get degrees has always sounded good to me. This keeps me level headed about not obsessing like some of my classmates did.

Wow CSantos I start ns in a few months and I hope I don't experience the same thing. You are a good student and I think the choice of refusing to socialize with the other students was a good one. Good Luck!:wink2:

Nursing school, while working, to date remains the hardest thing I've ever done, due to the overwhelming amount of work. Fortunately with me, one other guy and 58 women there was no gossip and backstabbing that bothered me. I was too busy to care or notice even if there was any going on.

I'm sure since you've asked three people to leave you alone, soon word will get around and you'll get your wish.

I think when people are under stress they tend to complain. I see it at work now, people who normally are relatively quiet become a little witchy when they are under extreme stress (which is usally one of us at all times. I too have had my "moments").

Hang in there and best of luck!

Note to OP - stop using the term "girls" to refere to the women in your class. I'm sure you dont' mean it, but no matter what you're trying to communicate, it always comes out as misogynistic if you use that demeaning term.

I have never thought it to be demeaning to refer to me as a girl, I have told my husband their are a few boys in my class but it's mostly girls.

Now if someone was like, "you're nothing but a little girl" than yea I would be offended or find that demeaning. but in the context of the OP's post I don't see that he was being demeaning at all.
