Behavior interventionist job for nursing student

Nursing Students General Students

Hello everyone,

I am going to nursing school in June, and I am looking for a job.

I know nursing students can work as cna, lvn, caregiver,... But what about behavior interventionist/analist? Does it look good on my resume after I graduate as an rn?

Thank you so much!

Could you provide more information about the job? What is the setting? What would be your duties?

Specializes in ICU.

What?? I would think a license would be needed for that job. Are you talking about a sitter maybe???

Specializes in ICU.

Me thinks it's a fancy name for a sitter. Lol.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

I guess either 1:1 patient sitter or school paraprofessional/instructional aid in an emotional/behavioral therapist. You cannot have the title of behavioral analyst unless credentialed to do so

There are board certified behavioral analysts: BECOME CREDENTIALED | BACB

And licenses behavioral analyst which is a master's prepared credential

Nursing students can only work as an LVN if they are a licensed (vocational) nurse if they completed a vocational nursing program and passed the NCLEX-PN

My friend called himself a behavior interventionist. (I think it's different from analyst). He works/plays/teaches with children with autism at their houses, and he makes $17/hr. It's required training (not sure about the certificate or license issue though). He told me to apply for that job, but I wonder if it can help me with nursing school because I won't be taking care of the kids the way I see the nurses taking care of my sick grandparents.

That's a great job for a student teacher. It's nothing like a behavior analyst which is a protected title. This is more relevant to teaching and has nothing to do with nursing. That's exceptionally high pay for a specialized educational assisting. If you were a special education major it would be helpful. Nursing student not so much other than having a paycheck.

LVNs ARE licensed nurses you can't be an LVN as a student unless licensed to do so.

To be clear behavioral interventionist does not teach they assist the special education teacher this is a special education assistant. So BI is to certified autistic special education teacher what CNA is to registered nurse or licensed vocational/practical nurse

Thank you! Now I understand :)
