Hi Everyone, Im a nursing student and am confused with what you exactly do with the contents of a bedpan (faeces, urine, tissue, wipes). we use re-usable bedpans at work. There is also a slop hopper in the sluice. Can I place all contents (faeces, urine, tissue and wipes down the slop hopper and flush? Or do I have to remove paper and wipes before putting bedpan in the dishwasher? I even read somewhere that you just place the whole bedpan plus contents in dishwasher and the dishwasher disposes of it? Please give me some guidance. Many Thanks

Find out what policy is and follow it. I really hope the dishwasher you are talking about is dedicated to bedpans.

I am hoping that it is a pan washer as well. Each washer is different so check out with thr ward. Mine can manage toilet suitable contents but not wipes other than toilet paper.
