Backpacks - Bookbags

  1. Not too long ago, I started a thread in regards to what kind of bookbags you guys use for nursing school. It seemed to be really helpful. AND THE WINNER IS..................

L.L.Bean Shockwave roller. This thing is WONDERFUL! Mind you, it was $$$$, but well worth it. Top notch quality; the rollers work like a dream & holds up to 25lbs (you know how heavy are books are). AND, it has a place for your H2O bottle. Never thought I'd get jazzed about a bookbag. Plus, it has a satisfaction thingy.
    Check into it!

    Hi Justjen,
I also did a ton of research on a rolling backpack. I had found a really nice one locally. Before I bought it, I check all the zippers and found two of them broke. I finally ended up with one from ebags. Its an Eastpak. I really like it. I had an Eastpak that I bought about 15 years ago and its still going strong, I was just sick of it, that bright green from high school just had to go.. The new one is really well made, plenty of space, and just a little pricy $39.

Ive owned an Eastpack for YEARS too, its zipper is dying slowly, I heard I can send it in and have them fix it, but I think Im ready for a new one anyways.

The eastpak guarantee is good. I sent my son's pack in and they replaced the zipper and sent it back. He has used it since he was in 7th grade,, and is a sophmore in college now. Its still going strong. Well worth the 30 bucks.
I used a small bookbag myself. I only took a couple notebooks. We never used the books in class, they were to heavy to haul back and forth so noone ever took them. If you dont really open them in class , dont take them unless you are in for some excersise and a little weight lifting. Our instructors gave us all the notes and handouts we needed and they didnt even take the books to class. We did have to do the reading,, but it was done at home.

I read justjenn's post last night and I did a bunch of research too. I would love the LL Bean bag but its too pricey for me.

Then I found Eastpak's rolling bag too! Its the Eastpak MPB right? It think its about the largest one they make (at least that rolls). I'll be ordering it tomorrow.

I wasn't planning on buying a rolling bag since I have the same Jansport from my first year/try at college in 1995. (Its impressed me, no rips or tears and the zippers work great.) Well, then at orientation the director of the program told us to go out and buy rolling backbacks because we would need them...so here I am.

Great ideas! I began school again in June after being out for 6 years - was funny seeing the ol' backpacks again and wondering which way is cool now - both straps over both shoulders or one strap slung over one side.

I got a Starter rolling bag at Wally World. I have not used it much, but it is very roomy. I had to get it - there are 8 required books foe this one class!

So, several of you mentioned a replacement of the zipper on eastpacks. Does that go for Jansport too? My Jansport got me through nearly 5 years of college and now needs a new zipper. Otherwise, its in great shape.

Oh, I love ebags too. I have a rolling Eastpack.. I love it, very good quality and handles the heavy A&P books, lab manuals and nutrition book, plus snack and anything else you could possibly imagine. It also has a padded laptop spot. Eastpack rocks!!

    However,
I recently purchased a Jansport messenger bag for Fall. I dont have as many classes in one day so I hated to roll my backpack for just a few books at a time. I figure now I am prepared no matter how many books I get in the semester.
