Atheist Professers - page 14

 Hi everyone! I'm kind of new here, and I have a question: Right now I'm in A&P and my professor is an all out atheist. I realized when I decided to go the nursing route I would... Read More

I agree with your post to Renee about the importance of nationwide acceptance of the gay union. In Maine we are having a tough time passing the equal rights amendment for gays. It was voted out in an election when there was very little else on the ballot. The Christian Civic League was very instrumental in that one. The gay rights bill had previously passed overwhelmingly in a general election, when the majority was voting. The CCL was crafty in getting it struck down on a ballot that they knew the turn out would be low in due to few pressing issues concerning the public as a whole... those who were against gay rights went to the polls and got it overurned. I am sure it will come out right eventually, but it is an uphill battle.

Tell me you aren't serious, because you are seriously scaring me!! Your ranting is scattered, inflammatory and shows absolutely no insight on the issues you are trying to "debate". Intelligently voicing opinions are fine; your demeaning statements on things you don't agree with is just plain hateful. Maybe you SHOULD go smoke a fat one. Couldn't hurt! Vegas is a very wise and intellectually sound person. Listen and learn. Your telling her to "grow up" makes you look even more foolish.

PuppyLuv - for a new member, you sure are getting off to a bad start. Do you really expect anyone to take you seriously? Or are you just posting to yourself?

Yeah, I hate it when a good debate gets demolished...and even more so when I get sucked into the ignorance

Its just not compatible with my life to move to Hawaii.
And I am diametrically opposed to the idea that in order to have any equality, all homosexual people have to relocate atop a volcano.

MsPurp, keep hope alive. Oh, God, I just used a Jesse Jackson-ism!
I believe the more the economic value of allowing same sex marriages comes to light and that the VOTER base is increasing will eventually cause change and acceptance.

    I hope you're right, Vegas.

It just seems that while this country is so forward-thinking in some ways, it remains backward-thinking in others.

I will keep hope alive, though. Hopefully, in my lifetime, I'll be able to be legally married to the woman of my dreams without so much drama.

"I say Watson, this is, a sticky wicket you have gotten me into"!

often when the subject of religion is brought up there will be several different (often vocal) opinions. add the subject of science, and viola! explosions are apt to occur. I applaud "ker-ker's" mettle in taking the initiative in bringing up a touchy subject.....

when i was in grad school to become a mediator, the very first class we took was---"human factors", in this class we learned that more often than not we will be faced with issues that will challenge our belief systems, some will actually threaten to shake it up....

often the professors would challenge us...with questions like:

if you were the mediator between clients x and y, and one of them was hitler...how would you remain neutal and unbiased?

which brings us back to ker-ker's question: how to cope with a professor that is obviously so repugnant, yet..... we need the class and the grade to progress ???

ker-ker........as jesus said .........."turn the other cheek", and practice being neutral and unbiased.....we will all need it sometime in the future.......:kiss

I think Pele needs to be appeased.....

Quick! Find someone to throw into the volcano!

Technically, its supposed to be a boy, but I'm sure Pele won't mind a menu substitution.
