:confused: Hi everyone! I'm kind of new here, and I have a question: Right now I'm in A&P and my professor is an all out atheist. I realized when I decided to go the nursing route I would encounter many scientific minds, but whew! How do you fellow believers keep this from getting to you? Just a little friendly conversation starter, not trying to start a creation vs evolution debate. Hope to hear from yall!

Peeps: Depends who's books you look in. I, however, cannot take my man to the courthouse and get married, therefore it is not legal. Is legal and Denmark and Finland, and you know those two countries are going down the drain.

My favorite on the subject is Chris Rock..."gays still can't get married....DAMN who's got it better than that?!?!"

Sarah: she's totally entitled to that, I just get irritated when people speak their minds using untruths. I wasn't going to waste my time explaining the possible situations that can arise when dealing with foreign enemies or arguing about abortion...but gay marriage legal??? Come on now!

You know what kills me Brian, it's when people don't treat other individuals with respect due to their beliefs or how they were born. Women still don't get treated equally, African Americans don't get the respect they deserve, Native Americans don't get it, neither do Mexican Americans. But really, compared to the rights of gay couples, it's a cake walk for alot of these minorities. I strongly feel that you and your partner deserve all the respect that heterosexual couples get (not anymore, but not anyless).

You are a person and deserve to feel like one!

I lose sales at work (i sell appliances..not glam but it pays for school) because I tell people off whenever someone makes a comment of any sort. "Why is this programed in spanish? I'm so sick of these mexicans all over the place." "I'd rather talk to a woman about the sewing machines/ranges." It would be easy for me to let it slide, but I don't want their money if that's how they feel. I REFUSE to take abuse in order to support myself..i'm going to be one bytch of a nurse!!

As for political leanings (NOTE NO RELIGION MENTIONED OR MEANT TO BE IMPLIED)...

I am tired of the Rush Limbaugh sentiment that CONSERVATIVE = GOOD and LIBERAL = BAD in ALL cases, that liberals are the root of all evil. (maybe he's changed over the years, it's been awhile but that's what I remember; all the faults of the world could be laid at the doors of liberals when I used to listen to him).

As there has been plenty of liberal bashing already, let me say that the Taliban are conservative. Hitler was conservative. And no, I don't agree that LIBERAL = GOOD and CONSERVATIVE = BAD. I just hear more of that from the right than from the left (you guys have more angry spokespeople). There are lots of evil liberals and lots of evil conservatives. There are lots of evil people who don't fit any label. BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT, the people of goodwill outweigh the evil people no matter what label you stick on 'em.

I am tired of polarity. Seems to me that having only two answers to many questions (good or bad, black or white, right or wrong) just doesn't fit. There has to be room for "maybe", or "yes and no", or "yes when y=x and no when x=y" or whatever. We should be looking for creative solutions to our complex problems.

I do not believe that life is black and white (as comforting and easy as that would be, and believe me, I wish it were), it is not even limited to shades of gray, it is all the colors of the rainbow.

I guess you can tell that I was a middle child and a peacemaker.

And maybe I think too much...:)

My Christian beliefs are that homosexuality is a sin, and that abortion is murder. Abortion has nothing to do with choice. Yes, it is your choice to KILL a baby or not, but killing a baby is murder and so abortion is basically LEGALIZED MURDER. That's what my beliefs are, period. And I have the right to voice my beliefs just as you do. That's what I'm talking about. You get SOOOOOOO offended if I say something you don't want to hear, yet I am just supposed to keep quiet about my opinions? I think not. Soldiers didn't die just so only a certain group could voice their opinions. StudentOH, I don't think you're a "bad" person b/c your gay. I simply don't think it's right. And with the Osama issue, liberals have a lot to do with having not caught him yet. We can't bomb certain places because of "innocent" civilians, but we can send FOOD PACKAGES?!! Bush was pushed to do that from pressure BY liberals. Nuff said.
