Anyone else going to be bored this summer?

Maybe I sound crazy but I am not looking forward to a three month break before I start clinicals in the fall. I lost so much information just during Christmas break! I am taking one summer class, but it's just a state government class that I will need later for my BSN. It'a gonna be a snoozefest :zzzzz... I plan to relax a little and maybe read up on Med Surg and Pharmacology to get prepared.

I'm so glad to have a break, but I just know I'm going to be SOOOO bored after a few weeks.

Anyone else feel my pain? Or am I the only nerd here? :lol2:

Yes..I'm entering my senior year of my BSN program this fall, so this summer is my last "summer vacation" ever! I might take a weekend ACLS class, but aside from that it's pool and sun and pleasure reading time..because I'll never get to just veg for 3 months again!

I don't start NS until August, but I do understand. I just finished up Nutrition and Patho and now don't know what to do with myself. I also made a thread a while back about having summers off and what to do.

I know this summer I am going to self study all I can on Pharmacology and Dosage and Calculations. I have a feelings those will be my hardest classes in my first semester schedule so I am going to try and get ahead of the game. Other than that boredom won't be a problem, these next 2 summers will be my last summers as a SAHM so I am trying to live it up. We have MANY places we are going this summer and lots of cross country driving. Usually I do the driving because my husband stays behind and works and I take the kids. This summer he is wanting to come to so while he is driving I can start with my studying, while still getting to enjoy the places when we go.

Next summer I plan on doing the same thing, get a jump start on my third semester and just keep my mind sharp.

I seriously need something to do too!! I already have a part time job in the hospital BUT I need something more, that's only 2 days/wk!! I want to do some volunteer work, nursing related. Any ideas?

No break for me, we still have a class this summer. It's not a difficult one, but it will help to keep our skills going.

I won't be bored this summer, Thankfully :w00t:! I have my last course that runs from 5/27-7/16 and pinning is on 7/22 ! I can't wait ! Afterwards I'll be getting ready for my nclex. I'll be bored finishing up the rest of my prereqs for my RN though ! I'm not a big fan of non- nursing classes.

I am also taking micro but not until July 13th. Other than that I will be working nights (5pm-2am) at my current job and relaxing during the day. Nothing better than a lounger, some sun, iced tea and a good book. :yeah:

And I want to know why this smiley exists: :spam:

I think it would be a good idea to try to school yourself on what lies ahead. It can only benefit you! Maybe buy your books early and skim thru them. Also, volunteering is very rewarding and time consuming! Also looks great on a resume or good for when you will need letters of recommendation. Try the Red Cross, theyre a great organization and really respect their volunteers! Of course everything is easier said than done! Have fun!

I look forward to being bored, but I did already purchase my books I need for the fall and am on a reading schedule. Peds and OB is in the fall so I'm slowly introducing myself to it. Those 2 books, however, will NOT go with me on my week long beach retreat in August. Ocean City here I come!!!

I am already bored but I know it's going to dissipate starting in June because with my son going to speech and occupational therapy twice a week I don't see the point in paying for daycare he won't be going to. So since I'll have an 18 month old at home and a 3 1/2 year old at home I see a great deal of work in front of me.

Plus I'll get my books in July and then I have this compulsive deal where I have to read all my books before I go to class or clinicals.

Not me. I am going to enjoy my break, and all of this free time to the fullest. I know when September rolls around and the craziness starts again I will wish I had some time off...:wink2:

I am going to enjoy my break too! I have a wonderful hubby that deserves some undivided attention for being so awesome! I plan on being outdoors, 'playing in the yard' & doing lots of birding. I'm sure I'll read a bit. I'll be working too, but only part time.

last test was on May 14, I'm already bored. 2 semesters down 3 more to go before BSN. I plan to work as a nurse aide or something during the summer to get more experience in a hospital. Of course I can organize my notes from last semester, especially my care plans so I can copy and paste next semester (if it applies).
