Am I really too stupid?

:o Ok guys, it has taken me a few weeks to post this, but here goes. I am an LPN x 10yrs. I have had a desire to go back to school for my RN x 10 yrs. I have 3 children in college, 1 married and a 13 yr. old at home. I thought now would be a good time to go back. So finally our community college offered an 18 month LPN - Rn bridge program. You can not have to take any math, reading etc. etc. only a chemistry class. This is totally federally funded at no cost to the student. All you have to do is pass this COMPASS placement test. So I had a week to study.

Well I bought ACT books, studied online whatever it took. I even took the NCLEX-RN test for the heck of it 180 question. I only missed 20. without any (formal) RN studying.

So I was brave enoguh to go take this test, and aced it all but the math! Whats wrong here? Come to find out they had to cancel this new program 'cause they couldnt fined enough qualified nurses. They had to have 20 for the class. And out of 150 of us they couldnt do that. I still have the desire to go to school. But I am lost as to where to go from here.

Keep looking for other options. You've wanted this for a long time, apparently. If money is an issue, then maybe think about waiting for next fall so you have time to go through the financial aid process.

If the issue is there are no programs in your area other than that one, then I'm not sure.

By the way, I did the NCLEX-RN test a couple of years ago without any training whatsoever, too. I only got 6 questions wrong. Go figure. Maybe it's tougher later on because we have more information jarbled up in our heads to confuse us! :chuckle

Keep looking and good luck!

I say you just go to a college in your area and you go for it! You may have to apply for financial aid, but who cares? It would be good for you, and I believe your children would be soooo extremely proud of you!

Like Alyssa said~ you just keep looking for other options....you're obviously qualified to be ab RN...why not earn those initials?

Good Luck!

Julie :)

Thanks you all for the encouragement:rolleyes: I think I will apply this fall. It might take me 10 yrs. But oh well I've already waited 10 yrs. anyway.:) Guess I dont have much more than time anyway.

Thanks again. Sorry to sound like a big baby.:zzzzz
