Aaah! Starting Nursing School NEXT WEEK!

Nursing Students General Students

Hey Guys! I have lurked for quite a while, and gotten into the discussion a FEW times, but not too many.

I am so nervous! My BLS for Healthcare Providers is Next wednesday (the 17th), and then orientation on BOTH the 18th an 19th.

I am stocking up on my stuff I need for school!

I've got two pairs of my "flared" scrubs (The regular ones they first sold me... looked very weird on me), my nursing student tops (complete with our schools initials (MSON) embroidered in black on the tops (and they were 32 bucks each! Sheesh...), and my dad just bought me my "all white" shoes I needed for clinicals.

I'm ecstatic!!!

My best friend bought me a digital voice recorder for my birthday (he's so great!!), and we just went out and bought my new computer. It is my BABY!!!!!! I got a brand new apple i book...

you can see it at that website, but WOW, those pictures don't even do it justice. I can't wait to break it out to really use it to take notes for class, etc.

I am so nervous and excited all at once! Hopefully, I'm buying my books tomorrow (WHO KNEW THAT ONE SEMESTER WOULD COST $600.00 for BOOKS?!?!), which is bound to make me even more excited.

*When is everyone's "starting" date?(I "officially" start on August 22nd)

*What are your clinical uniforms?(I told about them above... All white except tops are pinstripe)

*Have you subscribed to any magazines to help? (I subscribed to RN and Nursing Made Incredibly Easy

My program is going to be 19 months with the longest break being one week. This is going to be a couple tough years!

I have orientation on the 18th and classes start the 24th. I am so nervous!!!

I have all my vaccinations and paperwork done and all my supplies are bought. I just have my books, uniforms and stethoscope to get.

How much did your uniforms cost? I got two pants and two shirts with patches put on for $93.00. I wish we could wear navy pants like some schools; I look like the Michelin man in my white uniform! HA!

I got one pair of pants, two tops and a lab coat (the lab coat was the cheapest part, at 19 bucks), for 110 bucks.

Specializes in OR, Hospice.

I start on the 29th....ordered my books the other day, to the tune of $700 (and that's WITH the B&N member discount!) Ordered my uniforms too - white pants and hunter green scrub top w/school patch on sleeve. We had orientation a few weeks ago, but tonight is orientation with the student nurse association....should be interesting. I'm very excited and anxious to get started!!

hey hey hey fellow nursing students. I am so ready to get started on this journey!!

I start the 22nd, orientation is the 18th.

I bought my books the other day to the tune of $675, plus about another $100 for a couple of books I got early this summer just to get started and $100 for my lab kit - $875 total - and I got some good deals and used books. Some poor slobs in my class will be dropping about a grand. Our uniforms are navy blue scrub tops and bottoms, with our school name and school of nursing embroidered on the pocket in white. We also have to wear white lab coats with school name and school of nursing embroidered on the pocket in navy blue. I don't mind the navy blue scrubs and coat - makes me feel official! A good friend bought me my Littman stethoscope earlier this summer. All I need now are some basic supplies from the drug store - gloves, cotton balls, etc.

I plan on seeing where I end up with all my financial aid. I need to pay off some debt and get a PDA and some software, but not sure I can afford it first semester. I am mostly done with my expenses.

Man am I excited. I can't get anything done - I just sit around all day day dreaming and planing for when school starts. I am with all of you out there who are so excited and anxious. I refuse to act nervous, though. I plan on outwardly appearing like one cool cat. I know many of you, like me, have worked so hard to get to this place. Lets all not forget to take a moment to appreciate what it took to get in - and now let's go kick a$$!
