This was so awesome, I am a pre-nursing student and I was really excited to take this! My top 3 were Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (that is so great, that is EXACTLY what I want to go into nursing for), Radiation Oncology & Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (that one surprised me). I have always known I wanted to work in a neonatal ICU, this just confirmed my beliefs that I am headed in the right direction - thank you so much - that is just what this pre-nursing student needed to hear! Yeay!

Mine said sports medicine, plastic surgery and otolaryngology. Whatever.....

This is the 2nd one of these tests that I have done and they have been totally different and totally wrong both times! Maybe I'm not right for cardiac :crying2:

Nah, I wouldn't take it to heart - these tests really ask a limited amount of information in order to make a broad assumption. I think that if you really have your "heart" :) set on cardiac, then go for it, you will probably be great - passion and love for what we do is what makes us great at what we do, not the results of a simple test. If my results had come back with an answer different than neonatal, it would not have made me change my mind or even reconsider my choice, it is what I want to do and what I am in love with - that is what will make me good at it, not what a test determines. I took a test in HS that told me I should be a clerical secretary - HA - not in a million years would I be happy with a sedentary job like that which did not require tons of brain and body interaction - nope - never. Cheer up, love what you do and be serious about it and you will be just fine.

My top three were Dermatology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Radiation Oncology. I wasnt suprised by the last two but I've never even considered Dermatology!

I'm considering completely changing my profession. I was recently (6 weeks ago) laid off from my job as an architectural intern, where I was pursuing my architecture license. The recession has really killed the construction industry.

My questions are: At what point do you choose a specialty? Is it when you are still in school, or is it after you enter the practice of nursing? And, are there additional tests required when declaring a specialty or do you learn as you go?

I realize I may have put my questions in the wrong forum, but this seemed like a logical place to ask, as the original post was about choosing a specialty.

1. Emergency Medicine

2. Pediatric Surgery

3. Anethesiology

My choices are ER Nurse and Nurse Anethesist (pretty close)
