Thank you for the GREAT suggestion! I will try making up a "story" about each slide.

I did that for an art history class I took years ago, but had forgotten until you suggested it.

I was feeling really stressed about the upcoming lab practical. I appreciate your reminder to play to my strenghts rather than dwell on my weaknesses.

Thanks again!

I do everything, any trick I can. My latest "story" is the digestive system since that's the primary focus of my next lecture exam. I imagine a bit of food (nutritionally balanced so I can get all the bits right) and say aloud all the things that will happen to it from the first bite all the way to the other end.

Saying things aloud will help the "audio" learners as well. Plus it really helps plan essays as well.

Good luck!

Woo Woo!!! I got a 97% on my Lecture exam!!! :D It technichally should have been a mid "B" but apparently most of the class bombed the first test so he based the exam off of 150 points rather than 170. So my 146 turned out to be a 97%. I'm not too proud to not appreciate it! ;) I do realize however that I shouldn't change any of my answers and that I need to read the questions a little more carefully. If I had, I would have had an "A" from the get go! God do I hate stupid mistakes! Well at least this time it didn't cost me my "A"! :D It's a windfall...but I'll take it!

I got my lecture and lab tests back. I got an A on the lecture test and a B on the lab test! I have never been so happy for a B in my life, as three-fourths of the class failed the lab test.

I printed pictures of tissue slides off the web and made flashcards out of them. Even though they weren't exactly the same slides used in our lab, they really helped me learn to differentiate the tissue types.

Our professor said API is especially hard as the school uses it to "weed out" weaker students. Nursing school is very challenging and they don't want to accept students who won't be able to keep up.

We were supposed to have our first A&P II lecture exam on Monday, but classes were cancelled b/c of the massive amts. of snow we got in MD. In fact, classes were cancelled for Tues. and today, as well. I'm very happy about that!

But I am still waiting to hear if I got into the BSN program I really want. They received 2x as many apps as last year, and so didn't get back to us at the beginning of January like they usually do. I come home every day and search the mailbox for my letter!! Wish me luck!!

Got our lecture test back too. I made an A! I was very happy. Although, like Bean mentioned, I too made a couple very STUPID errors. I will take it to heart and read my questions carefully before I answer them. :)

Preparing for bone lab test next Thursday... Just when you thought your brain could handle no more...

Anyone else on bones yet?

Jenny

Yup! We just started the skeletal system this week. Every groove, scratch, ridge & hole! ;) Yikes!! Good luck!

Woo, this was a good week for grades -

First A&P II Lab Exam - 90% (actually a disappointment, never made that low on a lab exam in A&P I)

First Microbiology Lecture Exam - 102% (aced it plus the bonus question - "Are you a eukaryote or a prokaryote?")

Got my ACT results back as well - I blew the $8 to see it early online. 28! Seems so/so when its outta 36 but since the scores tend to run in a bell curve, its damn good. Top 7% in the country! (Top 2% on my English portion  )

I sat my first A&P II lecture test Tueday, will have the results on Thurs. I'd faint if I made less than an "A"... I so freaking rock! :)

(Sorry about that but I graduated Vet Tech school with only a 2.43 GPA... now I'm finding brains I never knew I had!)

Nice job Vettech! I love getting more than 100% on an exam!

WA HOO Vettech!! YOU GO!! I know the feeling. I am so far surprising myself at the grades I am receiving in A&P. I think for me it all comes down to motivation. I am very motivated to SUCCEED!! Plus, I have really changed my study habits. Who knows, maybe I could have done this well all along if I had not waited until the last possible moment to study. tee hee.

Anyway, best wishes!

Yup, sounds very familiar... last time all I cared was that I passed. Now I settle for nothing less than an "A".
