You are not a DR your just an rn.....RESPECT.

I do feel my Doctors respect those of us they know and trust however I surely don't think that my experience/education is equal to theirs.

I feel like I am always very well respected. Within and outside the medical community.

I feel respected in the hospital, but it is earned not given. You can't expect to be freely given respect simply because you haver RN after your name.

I'm a school nurse and just this week I examined a teacher for dizzyness. Vitals good, no fever, had eaten recently, etc., so basically a negative assessment except c/o transient dizzyness. I strongly encouraged her to go to her doctor or a clinic and get some bloodwork done (thinking anemic or something like that). She put it off for 2 days then she did not come to work one day, so I checked with her husband (another teacher) to see if she was ok. He said she finally went to the urgent care clinic and was, indeed, anemic. She was also given meds for allergies. She told the MD at the urgent care clinic that she had gone to the school nurse and his response was "Pfft! They don't know anything!"

So, I'd sadly have to say no, I am not given the respect I deserve. Especially since I was RIGHT in what I thought was going on!

That is terrible. Some people just don't realize what we have to go through. I understand where you are coming from. Some patients want nothing to do with me, and the things I suggest. If it doesnt come from the doc they dont believe it!
