Psych!!! without a doubt. My clinical rotation in school was at an outpatient facility so I would occasionally run into patients on the street. Yikes! Turned me off on psych for good.

Gee, with everyone hating psych, you think it would be easier for me to get a job in psych with 9 years on acute inpatient unit and certification. Returning to work after baby.
Anyone in northeast Ohio know of any psych jobs out there, let me know.
I have found that med/surg is toughest. There are a lot of patients there with too high of an acuity to be off of critical care floors and staffing is always always an issue. No lunches, no breaks, no thanks.

In nursing school, when we did our Psych rotation, our assignment was to sit down and talk with anyone on the open unit that was not staff. I sat next to a fairly young, attractive young woman, and began talking. We talked for quite a while, and I found out that she was married, the mother of 2 children, and working on her Ph.D in Mathematics locally at the Institute of Technology in the same town. I am now quite baffled, thinking maybe I got a staff member by mistake, so I asked, "what are you doing here?" She calmly said, "I tried to kill my kids." I then asked her why, and she said, "it was right there in my ....book," and she named the book. I decided that I was ready to go home. I obviously could sit and talk that long to someone that disturbed, and never know the difference-scaarrry!
P.S. All of the bio stuff was true-I asked one of the nurses on the unit. Yes, I made SURE she was the nurse, and not another pt!
