by TLC RN Premium Member

Do you work every other weekend or every third weekend or some other combination?

Every other weekend. That doesn't bother me a bit. A weekend could be Friday, Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday. We're self-scheduling so people do some strange things like work every Sunday instead. I work every other Saturday and Sunday.

We work every other weekend at my facility (Sat & Sun) - if you call in on the weekend then you're supposed to make it up the following weekend.

I work every Friday night. This suits my schedule and their weekend requirement.

I don't work ANY weekends, believe it or not. I've been working weekdays only for the past six months, and while I never really minded doing weekends, it IS nice to have a normal life of sorts. Of course, if a holiday falls on a weekday, I have to work, but otherwise it's a dream schedule.......Mon-Tues on, Wednesdays off, Thurs-Fri on, and then off Sat & Sun.

WOW-- that IS a dream schedule. Do you work 8 or 12 hour shifts?

I work part-time, 3-11 and work every other weekend and every other Friday (and two weekdays included in a 2-week pattern). It's interesting that administration allows Friday 3-11 shifts to be used for casual (pool) worker's "weekend commitment" --they have to work at least a certain number of weekend days/month-- so does that mean I'm working almost every weekend if Friday 3-11's are considered weekend work???

I think a little phone call to HR may be in order...

Every 3rd weekend, and two Mondays and/or Fridays every two week period.

I work every Friday night, (which is Saturday) and an occassional Saturday night.
It's my choice since most of our ortho pts for the previous week have been D/C'd by Satuday afternoon. That makes Saturday night and Sunday nights prime for getting pulled!

I am on call 2 nights during the week and take call every 3rd weekend. (I work for hospice) We are fixing to hire a new nurse so call will be about once a month and 1-2 nights during the week.
